Obama: Troop move to Mexican border under consideration

WASHINGTON — President Obama weighed in Wednesday on the escalating drug war on the U.S.-Mexico border, saying that he was looking at possibly deploying National Guard troops to contain the violence but ruled out any immediate military move.

"We're going to examine whether and if National Guard deployments would make sense and under what circumstances they would make sense," Obama said during an interview with journalists for regional papers, including a McClatchy reporter.

"I don't have a particular tipping point in mind," he said. "I think it's unacceptable if you've got drug gangs crossing our borders and killing U.S. citizens."

If you notice, “the one” visits the midwest about once a month. Valentine’s Day and then a cop graduation. He does run out imo.

the DEA says they bring in about 90% of the cocaine, and more than 80% of the meth and heroin consumed in this country, along with somewhere around half the pot.

But I still have to wait in line at the pharmacy when my sinuses get clogged up, just to answer a dozen questions, show ID, sign a legal document, and promise my first-born son, just to buy sinus meds that include Pseudoephedrine... The current group of substitutes do little or nothing for most sinus problems I run into. Thus, if I don't keep plenty of meds that DO work on hand (careful - buying too much will get you on a list of suspected meth makers), or I might very well end up with an actual sinus infection... and more medical costs...

Welp, you love the man who is probably singularly responsible for the piece of work currently in the White House. I don’t love Bush and I don’t care who knows it. I think Bush is a decent man but...

This is not going to happen. Obama doesn’t want to militarize the border. Grrr....

If I was CnC, I would tell them “if you try to cross, you will be shot on site. If you make it, you will be staying in a new prison opened for enemy combatants in Alaska or the current one in Guantanamo Bay.”

Like it or not, these drug gangs are terrorists. Furthermore, there have been reports of Hezbollah and Al Qaeda using the drug smuggling routes to get their operatives in here.

Zero refuses to carry out his oath of office and should be impeached. We have an IRAQ on our border. 7000 dead and plenty of severed heads.

This drug gang war on the Mexico siide of the border is a result of illegal aliens entering the USA.

They transport the drugs acrossm take em to ths citoes, and have a whole Mexican Mafia set up in the major cities across America. These are the same aliens that Obama will hire for his ACORN offices and his proposed Civilian defence force.

(I am surprised that the Texas Miiltia has not been involved by this point)

Seal OFF the US Border. Stop Illegal Aliens from entering, and stop the associated drug traffic.

No wonder Obama is going to have further study of the situation. He wants them to get stronger, not weaker!

These Mexican drug networks are the future soldiers for Obama's "community work"

My first though as well.

45K is not enough to deal with the Cartels. This is really a very disturbing situation

It's probably 25,000 bought off soldiers fighting the 20,000 regular ones. Every month or so you hear about Generals or police chiefs being arrested for working with one cartel against the other.

I have to admit that I like those laws. I was a public defender when it passed in my state. We were getting meth lab case after meth lab case. We'd get a few every month. They were a major pain in the butt, so much evidence to catalog, usually several meth addicts involved. We'd get meth lab cases, overpossession of pseudoephedrine cases, possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture cases, etc. When the law went into effect in no time it all just stopped. And, we stopped getting a lot of the cases we used to get where people did crazy things after having been up tweaking for several days at a time without sleep and they'd get all paranoid and start hallucinating. They couldn't afford to do it so much when they weren't making it. And the sad cases in juvenile court stopped where kids where living in homes where parents were operating meth labs.

Those laws actually did stop an awful lot of problems. It didn't stop the meth, but those little tweaker labs were never supplying that much of the meth on the market. They'd produce a few grams at a time and there were always a whole bunch of people involved collecting pseudoephedrine, scraping red phosphorous off of matchbook strike pads and on and on and on who were were doing most all of the dope they were producing. Most of the stuff on the market was coming from “superlabs” in Mexico or out west somewhere that would produce 10 pounds or more per batch compared to the less than 10 gram batches being produced in most kitchen meth labs. Personally, I don't mind signing for the pseudoephidrine.

Do you mean John McCain. No, I don’t much care for his politics. Very Good man, but not a solid conservative in my book. Bush disappointed me with the Border, really disappointed me with the Border. That being said, no one is perfect, let alone me, and I think President Bush will go down in history as one of the greatest we have ever had.

But for now, we have got to be on the active hunt for the person to kick Bambi’s crap to the curb. And Nancy and Barney and Dodd, and anyone else that voted for the rapine in Porculus. Thats my primary focus and desire, to get all those traitors out of power.

GEEEEZZZZZZZ! Is Jerry Brown (”Moonbeam”), Californias current A.G. (Planning a run for Governor again.) one of the 300 or so “Advisors” to Obama?

I recall his favorite delay tactic during his alleged Governorship of California waaaaay back when was “I’ll take that under advisement”, but nothing...I mean nothing would get done about whatever the dilemma of concern was.

This I expect of Obama about the same action as Jerry Brown.

Yeah he’s a Democrap.

What state are you in? Arkansas’s laws regarding Pseudoephedrine are pretty draconian... and if the pharmacy window is closed... too bad.

Signing for it is one thing...

I have not seen a shortage of tweakers, and the overall drug problem has not been abated by me signing for my sinus medications.

Then again, I am typically against the government registering any more than absolutely necessary...

“...If I was CnC,...”

But you’re not.

And the one who IS is counting on the illegal votes to keep his party in power in perpetuity...

And the DOJ/AG fed apparatus that is supposed to stop these vermin isn’t...they’re more worried about YOU and ME because we’re the politically incorrect color.

And one political party is feckless and cowardly, and the other downright treasonous and seditious...

Shall I go on? I understand your point, though.

In a sane America (say, anywhere in the 1950s or prior) this would have been stopped long ago.

That time, however, is gone.

“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity....”
-Yeats, “The Second Coming”

Yeats was right; the center DOESN’T hold. And it doesn’t hold because good people are oftentimes too decent to do what needs to be done.

Or maybe we’re just too naive, because we still believe in what once was. We bitter clingers, who still want to believe that what we once had, still is...

Sickening, how we’ve been played...to put it mildly.
