Mineral water in plastic bottles contaminated with hormones (Chems act like female hormones in body)

Scientists at Frankfurt University have shown that mineral water in plastic bottles is contaminated with chemicals which act like female hormones in the body.

A research project in conjunction with the German Environment Ministry showed that some were as contaminated as water from sewage works for the oestrogen-like substances.

Martin Wagner, who worked on the study, said in a statement, “When we started the work we did not expect to find such a massive oestrogen contamination in a foodstuff which is so strictly controlled.”

The scientists examined 20 different brands of mineral waters, 12 of which displayed heightened hormone content.

Didn’t “they” just tell us a while back that most bottled water is just tap water?

hmmm. So some grad student does his politically correct study to help in banning bottled water and plastic containers and his conclusion? “We don’t know the health effects ...”

The study, which will be published in the Environmental Science and Pollution Research journal showed that those waters in PET plastic bottles had around twice as much oestrogen contamination as those in glass bottles. It is thought that the plastic ingredient bisphenol A, which acts like oestrogen, leaches out of the plastic bottles.

Sounds like it's the bottle and not the water. If you are drinking sodas in plastic bottles, you could also be at risk. I wonder about using plastic knives and forks. Or tupperware...

I sure wish I could go back in time and get a Coke made with real cane sugar (grass juice) in a beautiful green glass bottle.

Now , that was refreshing.

Anyone who could compare the two (crap HFCS soda of today) wouldn't even flush their toilet with todays stuff.

No, I don’t think it’s the plastic bottle, as only 12 out of the 20 plastic bottled waters tested positive for female hormones. Probably the hormones are in the water supply, a situation also becoming evident here in this country.

It promises to be problematic for our future, as using hormone treatments for a wide variety of medical problems is common.

Don’t know what can be done about it except to stop putting hormones in products.

It’s a tin foil moment but ...

Lot’s of women are on the pill. They all pee. Some flush expired medicine down the toilet.

Estrogen and it analogs are very persistent in the water system.

They still sell it, the Mexican stores often carry it.

Article does not specify what water brands (water brand LOL) nor does it specify which country. Does this test include USA water?

Seems to point to mineral water, not plain water.

The article is a farce. It never mentions the numeric levels of the elevation, nor does it discuss the safe limits as a basis for comparison.
