Missouri Libertarian Party Condemns Missouri Highway Patrol Training Document as Political Profiling
Libertarian Party of Missouri ^ | March 15, 2009 | Mike Ferguson

Posted on 03/17/2009 8:25:28 PM PDT by GoldStandard

The Missouri Libertarian Party, the third-largest political party in the state, issued the following statement regarding a “Strategic Report” issued by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) on February 22nd, which became known to the public late last week:

An internal document designed for law enforcement education purposes inaccurately and dangerously implies that among the indicators of possible involvement in extremist, militant militia activity is support for the Libertarian Party. This memo and its findings are potentially dangerous to both the people of Missouri and to our system of free political speech.

The memo claims that membership in, among other groups, the Libertarian Party and/or the display of what it calls “political paraphernalia” in support of the party or its 2008 presidential nominee (former US Congressman Bob Barr) could be an indicator that someone is involved in a “militant militia”.

“Not only is this assertion baseless, it is outrageous and very dangerous,” stated Missouri LP spokesman Mike Ferguson, who was also the national field director for the Barr presidential campaign in 2008. “it is also misleading. Libertarians oppose the violence, racism and extremism of the ‘militant militia’ that MIAC expresses concern about. Anyone who understands basic libertarian thought knows we adamantly oppose any violence for political purposes.”

The memo purports to outline “trends” in extremist militia activity and claims those involved in such activity “…commonly associate with 3rd party political groups.” It went on to claim that militia members are “usually supporters of” Bob Barr, another third party candidate and Republican Ron Paul. While the report claims to be a memo about trends in militia activity, no specific evidence is offered to support the claim.

More fallout from this story. I'm not a Libertarian but I am glad they're saying something. The state of Missouri basically says you're a terrorist if:

1. You're a member of the Constitution Party.
2. You're a member of the Libertarian Party.
3. You have a Ron Paul, Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin bumper sticker displayed on your car.
4. You home-school.
5. You believe in a possible North American Union (NAU)
6. You display a "Don't Tread on Me" flag or an upside-down American flag.

I lived in Missouri for 7 years. I hate to say it, but the Missouri State Police/Highway Patrol is as close as you can get to a pure “state police” organization as you can get.

Well, cool. They are giving us some hints about who they will haul off to the Adult Social Sensitivity (A$$) Camps first. Not too far away from poking into someone’s home and seeing if they have a Bible out instead of in the book case (religious wacko), a Field and Stream, Magazine lying around (gun nut), or have FR on their favorite tab on the family desktop (political extremist).

What a Brave New Country we are creating.

A-priori classification of all members of any non-violent political party as "terrorists" is a criminal act of terrorism. It's also a clear violation of U.S.C. Title 18, Ch 13, Section 242: Deprivation of rights under color of law:
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

You display a "Don't Tread on Me" flag or an upside-down American flag.

So get the Stars and Bars.

They just keep tap dancing through the minefield. These jokers are going to drive citizens to militias in droves...and perhaps that’s what they need to justify ever bigger budgets. The mask is coming off, and citizens aren’t going to like what’s revealed.

Of course Missouri has Obama's Truth Squad made up of elected officials in St Louis, Jefferson City and Kansas City to be sure no one tells fibs about Zero.

This group started during the campaign and I can only assume is still around.

Be very careful Missourians big brothers and sisters are listening.

What if I want to participate in extremist, militant milita activity? Hey, everybody has got to have a hobby. What is wrong with being prepared? Oh yeah, then we're not relying on nanna-govt to take care of us. The lib 'rats can't have that!

The Bill of Rights - non-negotiable.

That’s it. My tax refund this year is going towards a netbook (needed to replace an 8 yr old system) and a new Glock G17 (very much wanted, for home defense and to drive libs crazy as part of the big firearms buy)...

I just love how so many of you keep expecting a dry leaf as flimsy and vaporous as a "law" to protect you. A law is a belief system, and if the skinhead, bloused boot thugs of the MSP don't believe, you're screwed.

The New Changed Feds only enforce The Great Leader's diktats.

Besides, when was the last time you have EVER heard of U.S.C. Title 18, Ch 13, Section 242 being enforced, or for that matter, any LEO ever being charged, in the last, say, 15 years? This is right up there with an local ordinance banning a pet Ork.

All too true, I’m afraid. But the only sure way to fail is to just give up. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. Despair and apathy is what the other side wants to see.
