Democratic National Committee: Statement on Gov Palin's Decision to Reject Stimulus Funds
PR Newswire ^ | 3/19/09

Posted on 03/19/2009 6:33:21 PM PDT by redk

WASHINGTON, March 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Please find, below, the statement of Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse on Governor Sarah Palin's decision to reject over $500 million in federal funds due the state of Alaska under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:

"After soliciting and accepting more federal dollars per capita than any other governor in the union, Sarah Palin's decision today to deny the state of Alaska over half a billion dollars in recovery and reinvestment funds - including millions for schools, energy and public safety - appears to be nothing more than political posturing. At a time when her state is suffering, Alaska's working families cannot afford a governor that puts her political future ahead of the needs of the state and its families."

So is it standard procedure for the ass-hats to put out a statement for something like this or is Sarah special?

So
Sarah kills the “bridge to nowhere” and the Dims claim she did not “REALLY” kill it?

Yes, she did, but Dims did not realize that it was going to be a “joint” project and that Palin had to kill it at the State level, and deal with Stevens and with the Alaska Legislature at the same time!

But now?

Enough money to build SEVERAL bridges to no where and Palin accepts the public works, that she can control, but rejects the money that has federal strings attached? They are mad that she is standing up to Obama --- Because now they can not say that Palin TOOK "Obama's" money!!

"After soliciting and accepting more federal dollars per capita than any other governor in the union..."

Not hard to do, when your state has only about 650,000 people in it.

Sarah is up for re-election in 2010, which is next year.

Plus they know she is still the leading candidate for the GOP in 2012.

So the Dems want to start preparing the battlefield.

At a time when her state is suffering

*snerk*

Her state has a budget SURPLUS as of last year, because she resisted the urge to spend when oil prices were high. Now that oil revenues have lessened, that surplus will come in handy...but tightening the belt is still a necessity in a recession.

The Democrats are criticizing a governor for showing fiscal responsibility.

*snicker*

Hoo, my oh my.

Listening to, or reading anything coming out of the DNC is like farting into the wind. You don't smell the stench unless you're down wind. In other words, a dog doesn't smell it's own poop.

Matter of fact, the rabid masses of the liberal/socialist/democRAT party don't see anything hypocritical with their statement. Why? Because they are living in their mama's basement, mentally (and physically) masturbating the time away. Oblivious to reality.

Poor things...

The biggest hypocrites in the history of the world. They want her to take the money so they can rip into her for taking it and making the government bigger. She rejects it and it’s political posturing. In the meantime the Zero is appearing on talk shows in constant campaign mode. It’s almost laughable, except that it’s so sad. They hate that she is one of the few who can see through all the smoke and mirrors and sees all the strings attached to this money. I wish she were the President instead of this load of crap dressed in an Armani suit we have now

When is the news not news? When you have to pay to get it noticed.

Check the source for this "news:" PRNewswire, the ultimate media whoring outfit. They'll publish anything for you if you have the bucks.

In other words, since this is not legitimate "news," the DNC had to resort to paying to spread their propaganda.

If it's from PR Newswire, it may be an idle curiosity, but it is most certainly not "news."

It's kinda interesting... I've noticed most of the stuff put out by PR Newswire comes from the RATS. Maybe PR Newswire is a front for the DNC or Soros.

Oh, and FWIW, releases from PR Newswire DO NOT need to be excerpted.

And putting out a press release criticising the work of the Alaskan governor is not political posturing?

The DNC is pathetic and transparent in their attempt to discredit Palin at every opportunity.

“Suffering”?!

Her state is doing the best of any state in the Union, thanks to her leadership. You want a suffering state, how about Kalifornia?

And one more thing. Notice how they had NO SUCH PRESS STATEMENTS FOR JINDAL, PERRY, OR SANFORD, even though they also rejected Stimulus funding. Their real fear is Sarah Palin. She’s the real threat to their socialist utopia.

Exactly my question! Gov. Palin should feel honored that the DNC felt compelled to respond to her presser that took place 4000 miles from DC. I don’t recall hearing them react to Gov. Jindal’s or Gov. Sanford’s pronouncements of refusing stimulus money made on national TV.

Gov. Palin said she will accept 55 percent of the $930 million dollars, and leave it up to legislators to decide if they will request any, or all, of the remaining dollars.

She said she would accept money that is "timely, targeted and temporary" and does not create strings that will bind the state in the future.

"I can't attest to every fund that's being offered the state in the stimulus package will be used to create jobs and stimulate the economy, I'm requesting only those things that I know will," Palin said at the state Capitol. "Public discussion will have to ensue on all those other dollars that some will say you left on the table."

Palin said she would send a spending bill to the Legislature by the end of the day Thursday that lays out the items she is willing to accept.

The governor has until April 3 to formally request funds from the stimulus package.

Wow, imagine that? A Governor that believes that the public has a right to determine what's important...or not.

Let's not us forget, folks, that Alaska has expenses that are mandated by the Fed's over regulation and control of that State.

As well, many smaller States have a higher amount per capita due the the economy of scale that larger States enjoy.

The Federal Gov't owns 69% of Alaska, the 2nd highest in the Nation, yet the State must support the infrastructure and the people who work for or on those lands. Those lands that are Fed. owned aren't just, or mostly, Desert, like in Nevada, either, they are some of the most protected Natural Resources in our Country, and they are in isolated and very hard to traverse areas.

No other State has such an arraignment or responsibility.

I'm looking at the Earmarks spreadsheet right now. I don't know how they get that Gov. Palin "solicited these earmarks, when they say either President, Murkowski, or Young right on them.
