There must be a storeroom where politicians turn in their consciences.

That they would even consider this tells you how much closer we are to the Soviet model, than the American one.

No, I know. Card Check is dead until the next elections. Everyone else has given assurances.

You can relax.... a little.

Any Republican (really RINO) supporting this garbage should be tossed out of the party and defeated in the next election. This is communism and should not be allowed.

Oh, no worries. The THOM (Twin Hags Of Maine) will carry the day.

He won’t be able to get the GOP primary rules changed. Most of the GOP base in PA isn’t sympathetic to Specter.

I’d like to see Toomey challenge Spector again, but could he beat a dem in PA (recalling what happened to Santorum)?

We’ve heard this song before. Spectre doesn’t like this nominee, Spectre doesn’t like that nominee, Spectre doesn’t like this stimulus bill, Spectre doesn’t like that stimulus bill. It all ends the same way: Spectre gets bought off with a couple billion in pork and grandly announces that he’s reluctantly supporting said item.

“Well, of course I am,” Mr. Specter said when asked if he’s worried about the conservative backlash. “But (President) John Kennedy had it right. He said, ‘Sometimes the party asks too much.’ And this is something I think is necessary for the country. It goes beyond politics. It goes beyond the Democratic or Republican position. It’s the right thing for America.”

Mr. Specter said he would have supported the package even if Democrats had not added $6.5 billion in additional money for the National Institutes of Health to the final version of the bill.

Mr. Specter had sought the money for years, and had mentioned that he wanted the money in the bill when he met with President Barack Obama last week.

“That’s only one small part ... That’s not determinative in my mind,” he said.

The stimulus vote could create “a political problem,” he said, but “I thought the public interest was so important that I have to take whatever problems it brings me.”

Like asking a dog to not drink out of the toilet, it goes against his natural instincts, so we'll see if he really can keep his tongue off the porcelain.

LOL!

So this means Arlen Specter has become as “conservative” as George McGovern? I’m so relieved.

Hard to say. 2006 was a bad year for Republicans nationwide, but Penn is so far gone it’s tough to say.

Can hearts and minds be changed? If your answer is “yes”, then Toomey can win.
