Zogby: Obama's Job Performance Drops Under 50%
Zogby ^ | March 24, 2009

Those Saying U.S. Headed in Right Direction Continue to Increase, Now 45%

However, Obama's Job Performance Drops Under 50%

UTICA, NY - A March 20-23 Zogby Interactive survey shows 45% of likely voters believe the nation is headed in the right direction, a gain of five points from a similar survey completed on March 5. At the beginning of the year, only 14% held that positive view.

However, President Barack Obama's ratings for job performance and favorability did not improve over earlier this month. In the most recent survey, 49% rate his job performance as excellent or good and 50% as fair or poor (less than 1% were not sure.) That is a dip of three points from the previous poll. The percentages who feel very or somewhat favorable toward Obama remained unchanged between the two polls, with 55% now and 56% in the previous poll.

There are still huge partisan differences in opinions about Obama. For example, 91% of Democrats rate Obama favorably, compared to 14% of Republicans. On Obama's job performance, 87% of Democrats grade it as excellent or good, compared to 9% of Republicans.

Sample size of the survey was 4,523, with a margin of error of  +/- 1.5%.  Margins of error are higher in sub-groups.

This table shows attitudes about the nation's direction from Zogby Interactive polls this year:

Is the nation headed in the right or wrong direction?

March 23

March 5

Jan. 26

Jan. 8

Right Direction

45%

40%

36%

14%

Wrong Direction

47%

48%

45%

70%

Not Sure

8%

12%

19%

16%

The movement toward "right direction" from January 8, prior to the Obama Inauguration, to January 26 came from Obama voters, and that has continued. For example, these are the increases in those choosing "right direction" between the March 5 poll and this most recent one: Democrats +9, Obama voters +8, liberals +7 and African-Americans +13.

There has been virtually no change in the direction question among Republican base voters. Choosing "right direction" in the most recent survey were: Republicans 9%, McCain voters 5% and conservatives 6%. Among Born-again Christians, 32% chose "right direction", an increase of 6 points from Jan. 26.

Because to many of them, race or orientation trumps religion

“Can anyone tell me why 32% of born-again Christians in the survey think the country is headed in the right direction? It doesn’t make much sense to me.”

They must be Dominionist, Preterists, who firmly believe (despite all biblical and observational evidence to the contrary) that they are gradually conquering the world for Christ and will hand the keys, to the grateful Savior, when He returns. To them, Obama must be a closet Dominionist, who is secretly seizing all this power, to hand it over to them :-)

Either that, or they were “born again” by parroting some prayer they didn’t understand, after the rock concert, laser show “worship”, comedy skit and “sermon” about how to improve your sex life, at some Warrenist, Purpose Driven â„¢ “church”, and as a result, have no idea that they should be concerned about the expansion of abortion, sodomite ‘marriage’, sexual immorality, covetousness and lawlessness in our nation.

If Obama is an illegal alien, he should come to Wisconsin. Our Governor Doyle wants to give him and all other illegal aliens in-state tuition rights!

How on earth did the percentage of people who believe the country is NOW going in the right direction increase by 31% in just the last three months?

That's what I wondered. Spending is out of control and people think that's a good thing? The dumbing down of our education system is the worst thing that has happened to this country.

He only has another 15% to drop and he’ll be where President Bush was when he left office. Of course, President Bush was at 90% at one time, something Hussein will never see.

I guess the country is beginning to wake up. There starting to discover we were right all along about the Kenyan.

Wait until everyone finds out he is an illegal alien.

When BHO’s poll numbers drop below 30%, watch the MSM suddenly “discover” the birth certificate issue.

On another topic, I saw a CNN piece today on some 20-something who has been unemployed for over a year. He voted for Obama because he said Obama gave him hope. Now he felt that Obama wasn’t quite giving him as much hope anymore and he was very sad (and still unemployed). I expect that young man will remain unemployed for quite some time.

He might not but Congress does. I believe that a number of dems in the House and Senate are now not following lock step for WH’s proposals. As Hussien prummets, the oppostion from GOP and mod Dems are going to escalate.

Keep in mind that many mod Dems do not believe in the things that the radical left wants to do. Sadly, that is what Hussien, Pelosi, and Reid are. You are seeing them run away from the spending and high deficits and that is only the beginning.

A rift in the dems has occurred and that maybe saving the Republic until 2010.

I don’t get how the number of people who think we are headed in the right direction is increasing but Obama’s numbers are going down.

How does that work? They aren’t giving him credit for it, or what?
