If he is going to stop the rise of the oceans, he HAS to start somewhere!!!

A Commencement Ceremony should not be about 'engaging someone in a debate'. It should be about the STUDENTS and their accomplishments. Notre Dame has ignored their graduates in favor of grabbing some of That One's supposed acclaim.

If they wanted to 'show him up', they could have done it at another time, in a different venue.

The only argument is that of “free speech” and we should listen to all views (including conservative ones). I don’t think he should be invited, I can’t ever listen to him read, he makes me ill and the idea that Catholic educators don’t see him as a choice of evil is disgusting and disturbing. I can, however, see the speech argument because I dispised the way conservatives were treated at universities. Because Notre Dame is a Church school and takes funding from the Church it should not have invited such an apparent evil. He will have no insight and will just read his propaganda.

They should all have “I survived Roe v Wade” stitched into their gowns.

At the same time Notre Dame has a history of inviting newly minted Presidents. Even the Peanut Farmer showed up.

If it’s about the Students, then get the best kids on the debate team to engage Obama. That’d be a hoot.

Heck, get a C student. They’d still wipe the floor with Barry.

Zero’s party is also the one that wants to make scripture into ‘hate speech’.

The whole of the democrats are evil.

My point is simply that it is indeed
silly, stupid, foolish to pine for the
moment when nobody shows up when the invitation
was in fact extended and continues now to be defended by many who claim to be "Catholics". It is about time for all serious people, those
in authority even more so, actually to act.
As I said in my last post, I homeschool my
child. I put my money where my mouth is.

You miss the point.
It is patently silly to wish
that no one would show up.
Many THERE are supporting him.
Pie in the sky is not nutritious.

“Would be interesting if no one shows up to the commencement ceremony because of O being there.”

I didn’t make the comment. I defended it. It would be interesting and appropriate. It also would happen IF THEY WERE REALLY CATHOLIC.

All of my children are in Catholic schools in which I am very active. I challenge the schools’ politics when they fall off the wagon and start heading left. I’m currently in discussion with the chancery about two high school religion teachers who put social justice above life. Thankfully, my boys are well catechized enough to recognize the discrepancies and argue the point.

I’m also a master catechist and have been teaching adults in RCIA for many years. I make it very clear that if they cannot commit to the teachings of the Church on matters of faith then they should not convert and, if they slip up, they should not present themselves for communion.

I hope, pray, WISH that they follow the catechism and do not become nominal catholics because, as adults, they have committed themselves in full knowledge to the Truth of the Faith as I did when I converted.

Not showing up would be an ACT of some courage as it would be a clear message to those nominal Catholics that having TOTUS there is an insult.

Just because we know that many of them are taken in by the socialist messiah doesn’t make the hope that they might come to their senses “stupid, silly, and foolish.”

I appreciate your serious attitude.
It is typical of those who convert
as for thoughtful people that requires
a great deal of consideration.
I agree that it would indeed be
wonderful if those who are involved
actually had the scales fall from their
eyes and withdrew the invitation with
courage and conviction.
Sadly, the Roman Catholic community,
(as do many other Christian groups)
has a large proportion of “adherents”
who really do not adhere!

I’m with you, SoldierDad. If I were a senior at Notre Dame, I’d be organizing an alternative graduation right now for those who want to take a stand. There are plenty of prolife speakers who would be powerful inspirations. I’m sure there would be a large church in the community that would be willing to host the event.

And the support of at least two bishops and probably Benedict if he would comment.

So, you believe it’s silly to stand up for what one believes in and against what one believes is wrong!!!!!

At this point, the (only) DECENT thing to do is to withdraw in deference to the kids.

But of course what he WILL do is just get in their FACES. What a sorry puke.

Ok, see if you can understand this:
It is silly to hope that no one attends
and they all stay home ,blah, blah, blah.
As I have said several times: I certainly
would not go. But, you will have a majority
attend, to pretend otherwise is fatuous.

Where did I say that I HOPE NO ONE ATTENDS THIS COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY????? Go back and read my original post that resulted in your rantings. Commenting that it would be interesting . . . is not even close to what you seem to think I stated.
