Many Brazilians are embarrassed by the utterances of the Squid (Lula). Especially in the industrious South.

When I was in Rio, there was only one safe beach, anyway, that being Ipanema. Bathing suits there are scant to non-existant, so it wasn’t a place we could take the kids.

The other beaches are patrolled by gangs that will slice your throat, take your electronics, jewelry and wallet, and leave you to bleed out.
