Yeah and we should come back with....if a licensed to carry staff member had been allowed to have a weapon in the facility then lives might have been saved. Ban guns from the bad guys and leave the rest of us law abiding citizens alone.

Yes, that’s all correct.

One of the nurses was fatally wounded and so was a visitor to the nursing home!

I don't know why Whackjobs seem to be attracted to Nursing Homes. Seriously. We had a guy show up where I worked wearing a Diaper and Tennis Shoes nothing else. He was maybe 40 and wanted to check himself in. Turns out this was how he got his jollies he was also fairly well off.

Nursing homes get all kinds of threats like bomb threats, disgruntled employee's etc. As well some family members of patients had about as of poor mental capacity as some patients.

No—arming the poor patients would be a bad idea. How about arming the personnel? Duh!

“Appears to by another tiny town rural town. The last one two weeks ago, was in the sleepy rural town of Samson, Alabama which killed 10 and wounded others.”

Compared to major city gang banging it’s a drop in the bucket. The only difference is that the media doesn’t cover gang violence much anymore. It’s not even news it’s so common.

I have a grandmother in one, and the food isn't all that great, but the care is excellent. I know her nursing staff, and the CNA's who take care of her - and they never know when I am coming out to see her!

And they are also jealous that I bring a 5 course meal for my grandmother every weekend....

That’s just awful! I used to work in a long term care facility and I can just imagine what this would look like.

Prayers for all involved.

D*mn. Looks like I will be the lone sheepdog next weekend when I go out. (That and not telling my mother - she’s a communist gun hater...)

Thanks for the testimony - you’re not alone.
5 course meal, eh?
My wife would bake a cake or cookies for the staff for when we visited.

In this case, what she doesn’t know isn’t going to hurt her.

Well, let's see...(FYI - grandmother has stage 4 alzheimers and weighs 90lbs...)

1 16oz protein shake, made with protein powder and half and half (you read it right. It's for the calcium and easily absorbed protein)
Fresh fruit and veggies (tomatoes; avacado; zucchini; celery; cooked broccoli; spring greens; green beans)
Lunch (last weekend it was Chicken and Broccoli from a chinese restaurant; this weekend, it was Mexican (Chicken soft taco and a beef enchilada, with refriend beans and spanish rice)
Finally, dessert. Usually rice pudding and some fresh peaches. Yesterday, it was a pint of Fried Ice Creme with said peach.

The treat was that she had 6oz of my vanilla coke!

I rather her quit eating on her accord, rather than succumb to a osteoperotic break, or slowly starving while getting 3 meals a day.

Ok. So it was really 4 courses.... it's still Good Eats!

Oh. As for the staff - I went out on Thanksgiving when they were having their staff luncheon, and I took out my sinful sweet potatoes for the staff.

Sweet potatoes; brown sugar; half and half; pecan liquor; pecans; marshmallows.

The whole tray was gone!!!! and I got many a thanks from the staff for bringing them something.
