MSNBC will soon add another liberal radio host, the latest in a series of changes intended to position the network as a venue for left-leaning voices in the evening.
Ed Schultz, a radio veteran with a blue-state appeal, will anchor the 6 p.m. hour, to be called The Ed Show, starting Monday, MSNBC, a unit of NBC Universal, announced Wednesday night.
Last year, the network hired Rachel Maddow, an opinionated Air America radio host, to anchor the 9 p.m. hour, immediately increasing ratings in the time slot.
Mr. Schultz said his show would take a hard-hitting approach to issues, with a folksy style when its called for.
Mr. Schultz, who calls himself liberal on many issues but somewhat conservative on others, will continue to host The Ed Schultz Show, his noon to 3 p.m. radio show, which is heard on more than 100 stations.

Crazy Ed gets a show. This has been discussed for about a week and last word was that it wasn't going to happen. Just what the world needs, another low rated liberal show.

First it was the liberal Rachel Maddow, now its crazy Ed Schultz.
Who's next? Myth Romney?

Hilarious! They don’t apparently realize that Bush Derangement Syndrome is completely passe, and they’re not about to rail against Obama, so ... What’ve they got?
Adding the incompetent Ed Schultz (who was supposed to be their “answer” to Limbaugh on radio) is laughable.
I wonder if MSNBC will be able to scrape up the idiot buyers who have somehow kept “Air America” afloat?

Forgot to add an update about everyones favorite Christmastime guest*, Randi Rhodes. She's been off the air for almost two months after Nova M Radio went under. She's been completely silent on her future and there's only speculation out there. Many schools of thought from her faithful about her silence but they all have to do with legalities. The first is that she's still bound by her previous contract and will be out from under it sometime this month. The next is that no insurer will touch her since she's been sued in the last 3 years and that clock started last summer. The final one is that she's so unstable no insurer will take her at any price ever. I tend to go with that one.
The reason I bring this up is that her name was never mentioned by anyone as up for an MSNBC gig and they seem to be giving a show to any host known in the lib radio world. I find that interesting.
*Rhodes’ rage retains fury on new national stage left (Includes Randi's Christmas Tree Incident)

Methinks if Nova M vaporized, the non-compete period went with it. The entire rationale for a non-compete is that the brand or entity invested something in the personality and the personality shouldn’t be able to go over to channel X and compete against the original employer for a reasonable period. With Nova M’s demise, there is no original entity to compete with. She’s just not salable.
To: Wally_Kalbacken
Many have pointed out about Nova M's folding releasing her from her contract but some still hold out hope. Curious that she's been on no blogs or other sites and Rhodes “insiders” are even mystified at her silence. Nothing in the trades about her either.
Schultz and Rush have something in common. They're both on the Armed Forces Radio Network. But where Rush was added to the network by heavy demand of those stationed overseas, Schultz was added from the whining of some leftists here in the states and forced on them by Congress.

Maybe she did away with herself and after a few weeks the smell from her apartment actually improved. So no ones bothered to check in on her.

Nothing but a tired parade of boogeymen and women for the next four years: Palin, Romney, Jindal, Limbaugh, Bachmann. That’s ok, we do WAY better in the wilderness than those dweebs.

Matthews, Olberfagg, Paul Maddow, and now Shultz. The MSLSD circle jerk yank-a-thon continues.

Perish the thought:)
My main curiosity is how she'll work out in the free market, as opposed to under her former business model of getting a leftist with more money than sense to keep shoveling cash into a black hole. I like to see when libs are forced to get by after they're paid what they're worth rather than what they think they are and some fool and his money gave it to them.

You know that “voice” that tells the conditions on a weather radio? Maybe she can fill in on it’s days off.

Liberals kill me with MSNBC being real news even though it’s as left leaning as anything out there, but Fox is “Faux” because it’s not left spewing garbage.

General Electric will make a killing on “carbon credits” if it passes in the Barry Budget. That will more than pay for MSNBC, which is, will, and has been propagandizing for “global warming” etc.

Why is it that very few people are talking about the interconnection between GE, who own NBC, and the probability of huge financial gains by the adoption of “cap and trade” and the “green movement?” The only green that GE is concerned about are greenbacks. As to it's propaganda organ, NBC/PMSNBC, who railed at the bonuses given to execs at AIG, HELLO!, you took bailout money too! So in effect, shouldn't they be held to the same standards? Keith Olbermann just got a big raise. Considering GE took TARP money should he have to give it back? These parasites game the system and then hysterically scream of excesses as they collect their millions in hard earned tax payer dollars.
