do you know how Walmart has been in stocking 12 guage buckshot? They usually have a good bit of that, but I haven’t seen any.

I haven't really paid attention to the rest of their stock since I'm already pretty well fixed for just about everything. I did notice the case where you would normally find pistol ammo and the like was almost bare. They DID have .22 in the 100 count boxes but I passed on that also since I've already got several "bricks" of 550. I was going to pick up more .22 ammo simply because it's useful for all manner of activities, including entertaining visiting grandkids. They can and WILL go through a brick in a weekend -- if I let 'em. I'm training up some dead-eyes for the future. ;^)

Have you ever fired one of these? If so, I'd be interested in your thoughts.

These things are also great 7.62x25 shooters. The thing I like about the Tokarev is that they're remarkably compact for the power of the round. I wouldn't shoot Czech surplus ammo through it though, if any is still available. That's some high pressure stuff; SMG use only. It'll wear out a 52 before its time, and busticate a TT in short order.

I understand that some senators are installing or upgrading security systems in their constituent services offices - expecting trouble?

Demand for many types of ammunition is far outstripping manufacturers' ability to keep up

That's the sprit! That is the way!

It absolutely brings a smile to my face when I envision the pure rage and frustration of "democrats" such as Reid, Schumer, Pelosi, Brady and the rest of the Communist Freak Show when week after week such reports continue to land on their desks.

Judging by what I have seen and heard there is getting to be rather a crapload of it in the hands of those very same like minded American Citizens. That reality combined with the “blink” by ZerØ when he actually said we “don’t need to run out and buy guns” with his documented statements on total gun control tells me the recent arming of American Citizens is something the communists fear. And a government fearful of its Citizens is a government that will not try very hard to enslave them. It’s kind of like nukes. We as a nation do not really want to ever use them but the other side knowing we have them keeps them (mostly) on the straight and narrow.

American, do not stop. Do not doubt the evil intention of the communist’s administration which broke campaign funding law and bough the election with offshore web-based credit card donations.

Continue to buy. Buy till it is a strain. If they fear it and it does not stop the communists might be insane enough to commit to a very foolish over-reaching political move.

But never doubt the communist’s true intent...

The Democrats and Gun Control

By DAVID KOPEL

However, having the right to arms and the liberty to hunt is worthless if you can't buy a gun. In 1999, Mr. Obama urged enactment of a federal law prohibiting the operation of any gun store within five miles of a school or park. This would eliminate gun stores from almost the entire inhabited portion of the United States.

As a state senate candidate in 1996, Mr. Obama endorsed a complete ban on all handguns in a questionnaire. The Obama campaign has claimed he "never saw or approved the questionnaire," and that an aide filled it out incorrectly. But a few weeks ago, Politico.com found an amended version of the questionnaire. It included material added in Mr. Obama's handwriting.

When the U.S. Supreme Court voted last year to hear a case on the constitutionality of the Washington, D.C., handgun ban, Mr. Obama's campaign told the Chicago Tribune: "Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional" and that "local communities" should have the ability "to enact common sense laws." Other than Washington, D.C., the only American cities with handgun bans are Chicago and four of its suburbs. As a state senator, Mr. Obama voted against a 2004 bill (which passed overwhelmingly) to give citizens a legal defense against prosecution for violating a local handgun ban if they actually used the firearm for lawful self-defense on their own property.

Mr. Obama's campaign Web site touts his belief in the Second Amendment rights to have guns "for the purposes of hunting and target shooting." Conspicuously absent is the right to have firearms to defend one's self, home and family. In 2001, as a state senator, Mr. Obama voted against allowing the beneficiaries of domestic violence protective orders to carry handguns for protection.

Mr. Kopel is research director of the Independence Institute and co-author of the law school textbook, "Gun Control and Gun Rights" (NYU Press, 2002).

Buy, buy, buy… suck up every last round that is put on the shelves. Go to gun shows and buy there as well. Let the buying go on and on until the communists in DC are in straghtjackets.

My Wal-mart in N Mi. is out of 9mm and most other hand gun ammo.
Two weeks ago they had anything you wanted.
They can’t say when they might get more.

I bought three boxes of .45 ACP on Friday from my local gunshop with no problems. I"m also stocked up on a thousand rounds of 7.62 X 39, which I ordered after watching how civil authority broke down completely during the Katrina fiasco in 2005.

I have noticed that Walmart has stopped stocking most of its ammo. I went there first to look for .45 ACP before heading to the gunshop. Could be a conscious choice by the company, since it looks like it is getting out of the gun business altogether for whatever reason.

Buy 'em in massive quantities before the Feds force mfg. to put serial numbers on them bullets.

Best advice in these times is to not advertise capability.

We can assume a lot of people have a lot of guns and ammo.

The words of wisdom when entering Free Republic “Loose Lips sink ships” is the reality of things. Pay close attention.

I was chatting up the old timer sporting goods guy in my local WalMart last week and he said that the reason they don’t have anything in stock is because the ammo manufacturers are being told that they’ll soon have to produce ammo with identification numbers imbedded in it and that the Feds want all the ammo out there now to be exchanged or destroyed. Any ammo without an ID number imbedded that is used for whatever reason—robbery, self-defense, will result in a stiff fine or sentence. The WalMart guy said that ammo manufacturers are complying because 1)they have to and 2)they don’t want to be blamed for the stiffer penalities. Don’t know if any of this is true but the old timer telling me sure believes it.

Local Bass Pro was well stocked with ammo including 00 buckshot. but I did notice they were low on 30-06.
Picked up a case of 12 ga target loads. They had plenty of handgun ammo but at premium prices.

Local Wal Mart was out of rifle and handgun ammo.
Lots of shotgun and turkey magnum loads.

Ammoman and ammodepot are all sold out of 7.62x39 and 40 S&W. Probably a lot of other stuff too.
Pretty hit and miss on ammo. Gun show last weekend had plenty of case lots of 223. Did buy some 40 S&W for a reasonable price.

I dunno..I've heard so many different stories from different sources "in the know" that I don't know which one is right.

My own theory is that the big retailers like Walmart are not sure what's going to happen with this Administration and are taking no chances on being caught on the "wrong" side of any Obama/Pelosi/Reid decree on ammo, and are not adequately restocking right now, instead adopting a "wait and see" attitude.

So, there may be at least a grain of true in your old-timer's explanation.

I live in southern Adams County, Pennsylvania, which is very rural and very pro-2nd Amendment, and I've noticed that all four of our local Walmarts (Gettysburg, Waynesboro, Hanover, and Chambersburg) have not restocked in weeks or even months. About all you can get there is .22 and 12-gauge shells.

I remember hearing a couple years ago that wal mart was phasing out firearms sales starting in some areas first but eventually including most areas. Seems they were concerned about the liability related to selling firearms.

There may be some pressure by the government on big retailers of firearms as well. Ammo stamping isn’t law anywhere yet and won’t be so i wouldn’t think mfrs are holding back when opportunity is abundant.

also a shortage of metals, including used empty casings for reloading. Add to that the demand thanks to the firearms salesman of the year Odooma. Best advice is to stock up every chance you get. A box a week isn’t a budget breaker.
But when its gone, it’s gone.

Yeah, I’ve looked and felt this lightweight 38 special that seems to fit me pretty good and I like that it is lighter. Easier to manage and aim for me. I’d actually prefer smaller because I don’t want to lug a brick around in my purse.
