Pelosi pledges compromise on assault weapons ban @ 10:29 am by Michael O'Brien

The ball is in Congress's court to craft a compromise in reinstating regulations on assault weapons, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) acknowledged Tuesday.

During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Congress will work to find some middle ground between the previous ban, which expired in 2004, and the precedent laid by the Supreme Court in a ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners' rights last term.

"We have to find some level of compromise," Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month. "And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means."

"Yes, it is," the Speaker said when asked if the ball is in Congress's court now that Democrats control the White House. "And we are just going to have to work together to come to some resolution."

Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail registration and prohibitions on transporting some firearms across state lines.

The Speaker also expressed displeasure at the attachment of a gun rights provision to legislation that would grant Washington, D.C. a voting member of Congress.

"Right now, we have the debate in Congress over the District of Columbia wanting a vote on the floor of the House, something we all want. That's a civil rights issue," she said, pledging to find "middle ground" on the issue. "And, yet, they want to put a gun…bill, attach that to that. I don't — I don't think that that should be the price to pay to have a vote on the floor of the House."

Keep your powder dry folks.

Indeed! And buy more.

Everytime these assclowns open their mouths about "awb," it ends up costing me money. Now I feel like I have to go out and buy atleast one more fiream and another 1k rounds of ammo.

“...The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

How’s that for a nice middle of the road compromise position Nancy?

We need to unite to fight gun control; the largest and most effective RKBA group, the NRA, is offering a free one year membership at http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus, and the price for a two-year membership is only $25, which is a very good deal.

If the NRA doesn't suit you, then two other possibilities are Gunowners of America (1-703-321-8585), or the Second Amendment Foundation (1-425-454-7012).

We all need to join one (or more!) of these RKBA groups before Speaker Pelosi sets this ball rolling in public: you can bet that the backroom negotiations are pretty much finished if she is floating this trial balloon.

Remember what Franklin said, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

I wouldn’t give up my most essential rights to the left wing extremists in exchange for a promise to be left alone. Regardless, the left are a pack of liars who cannot be trusted.

No matter what, the left has no intention of ever “leaving you alone”. It is deeply engrained in their ideology to make your decisions for you, because they know better.

(Larry King “someone’s gotta think for the masses”)

They know you won’t want them to make certain decisions for you, so they know that they have to take away your means of resisting.

“Never Forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn’t allow him to do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.”

"We have to find some level of compromise," Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month.

What about the 1800 victims of motor vehicle violence during that same time period? Seems to me that if Congress is truly concerned about the health and safety of the American people, then it should ban assault vehicles, rather than assault weapons, particularly since motor vehicles do not enjoy any special privilege under the Constitution.

"Shall not be infringed".

Anything less is unacceptable.

They’ll get around to banning private vehicles for the masses, what’s your hurry?

They have to get rid of the means to resist this first.

Our side never punches back. It’s about time we did, and there needs to be some fury behind our punches. And then there needs to be follow-through, because it’s getting ridiculous to always be on the defensive, always allowing our enemies off the hook once we quell their most recent attempts to attack us. Once this one starts, we need to follow through, and a number of people and organizations need to be removed from the American culture.

citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month.

Could it be that the Statist Propaganda Media has all but encouraging these shootings?

Years ago the media stopped giving camera time to people who ran onto to the field of play during sporting events to discourage others from doing the same.

Why shouldn't the same logic follow in these mass shootings?

Could it be that the Statist Propaganda Media's agenda be more important than the innocent victims of these incidents?

Why can't the families of these victims take legal action against the media for encouraging these deaths?

Couldn't the same action be also taken against those that set up the “Gun-Free” victim disarmament zones?
