I got this in an email today and thought it pretty much sums things up. The author is said to work for a company called Wilcox Sign, a small business in Tonawanda, New York.

“A Liberal is a person who will give away everything they don’t own.”

My thoughts exactly!

I voted Democrat...

Because now that the US will unilaterally disarm its military, it will also disarm the police and close the jails!

Now, in this utopia, I won’t have to pay taxes!

I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.” I have to admit that line made me chuckle.

adding:

I voted Democrat because I believe the hysteria about global warming.... just as I believed the hysteria and surgeon general's warning that * smoking is hazardous to your health * * it causes cancer * Although I know Democrat rules state we're never to question a given.... Why has the surgeon general downgraded his warning on cigarettes to * quitting now greatly reduces the risk to your health * Did I miss something?

Here is what one DUer says about free speech (this is a response to a thread on the evils of FOX NEWS):

4. I think they have passed the point of free speech. It’s getting dangerous.

The only good I can possibly see coming from extending “free speech” rights to protect the hate speech from these maniacs would be if they actually take arms, rise up, and then get wiped out by hellfire missiles launched from predator drones, like any other self-respecting terrorist would do.

I updated my tagline a few weeks ago on some of premise quoted here.

I have come to the conclusion that MOST (more than 50%)”voters” in this country are woefully ignorant about:

Current political events
True American history
True world history
Basic economic principles
The structure of our government
How Taxes work
What the constitution says

I could go on of course. I expect most that read these threads, are in the “above average” class of knowledge as it pertains to these things. So I don’t have an expectation for the mass populous to be at par with typical FReepers. But in my experience with dealing with most liberal and many conservative voters, the extent of their knowledge is an itteration of what they have heard, talking points. A simple question like, “How does stimulous money create jobs?” causes blank stares for all supporters of this spending. “How do tax cuts stimulate the economy?” can actually be answered. The most basic principles of supply and demand seem foreign to many Americans. I find it harder and harder to have intelligent discussions with people about politics. It’s like trying to explain snow to a 3 year old. If they don’t understand that water freezes at 32 degrees, then the discussion or explanation is pointless. When it’s cold enough outside rain turns to snow before it hits the ground, OK?

The ignorance of our population is becoming the end of us. Unfortunately, our MSM is the greatest source and distribution of that ignorance. “We the people” have no idea how to fix it because we don’t know what is broken.

(Note: We=American population in general. Thank heavens for the 30%, I estimate, are in the know.)
