Egypt's Newest Jihad--Alexandrian Muslims riot, unpunished, against the Coptic Christian minority

The Middle East has a long history of Muslims persecuting Christians. Nowadays, most of these incidents go unnoticed and uncovered by mainstream press. In many cases, they are not even covered in the Christian press.

This past weekend in the port city of Alexandria, Egypt there was a massive riot against the Christians.

News spread quickly through the city that Christians had stabbed a Muslim.

In response, the Muslim community gathered near a mosque and from there went on a riotous rampage throughout the city breaking the windows of Christian shops and destroying Christian property.

The Egyptian police arrested only five rioters.

They had already arrested the three Christian brothers responsible for the stabbing. The stabbing was the result of a landlord tenant dispute that turned into a scuffle and from there into the stabbing.

10% of the 79 million people in Egypt are Christians.

Egypt's Christians live in constant fear of these hateful, violent riots and acts of rage.

In all fairness to our muzzie friends, there have been periods of time when predominantly moslem countries have shown tolerance toward Christian minorities. They tend to be brutal secular rulers, and I suspect the motivation for religious tolerance is to keep the fanatical religious zealots in line. Saddam Hussein is a classic example; the Chaldean Christians had far more protection than under the current regime. Or maybe he was just egalitarian in his repression of everyone.

But on the whole of the history of the moslem world, these are isolated oases of tolerance in a sea of religious repression. For the Koran does not have the equivalent verse to “render to Ceasar.” The religious rulers do not recognize a separation of church and state and an independent secular authority. Wherever the imams hold prominent places in public life, violent repression of Christians, Jews and other religions is usually present.

There are certain events that occur so often that they are no longer “Newsworthy”
The SUN rises and sets.
The TIDES ebbs and flows.
The winter SNOWS melt and run off.
The MOON waxes and wanes.
MUSLIMS RIOT AT THE drop of a turban.
Of course it is not covered.

There's also the motivation that the Christian minorities are more economically productive than the Muslim majority, and thus are a source of tax revenue.
