98 shots from 'new Rambo' spurs ammo debate (cheap ammo)
Houston Chronicle & AP ^ | April 9, 2009, 5:16AM | WILLIAM KATES

Gun control advocates said if a man who complained about not getting enough in unemployment benefits could afford enough ammunition to repeatedly practice shooting and go into his killing zone with a satchel of bullets around his neck, new ways are needed to stem gun violence, including raising the price of ammunition.

Idiots. People bent on suicide don't have long term money concerns. And of course it didn't occur to them to say that unemployment benefits were too high.

In any event, since when is a freedom supposed to be hard and expensive to exercise?

John Kerry and Joe Biden both own and shoot shotguns. To be safe, we must raise the cost of a box of shells so high that these millionaires cannot afford a round of skeet.

As for people on unemployment affording ammo, giving up their cell phones, blackberrys, and on-demand video should give them enough cash in two months to buy 200 rounds of ammo.

They(Libs, Dems, gun grabbers) that they don’t want to ban guns. That’s true. Banning guns is the 3rd rail of politics.

What they want is to effectively ban guns without specifically banning guns. That means banning AMMO. Anyone who is paying attention knows this. One need merely attempt to buy popular rounds at a store or online to notice the issue.

If these gun-haters were ever accused of thinking clearly, there wouldn’t be enough evidence to convict them.

"Gun control advocates said if a man who complained about not getting enough in unemployment benefits could afford enough ammunition..."

And finally, the truth comes out, except that it's not Mr. Joe Unemployed buying so much ammo.

The superior, important folks should fear each other more than they fear us working class men. Firearms are very much in style for those who can afford so much of that--even with the lefties. When the SHTF, they'll be going off on each other. The rest of us are prepared and accustomed to living on little. We'll only be watching the spectacle.

I agree with you on the lunacy of the of the liberal idiots parroting the “raise the price of ammo”. Like all gun grabbing media trial balloons, there is no actual truth or logic in their claims. The price of ammo or the number and ease of access to weapons isn't the issue. Homicidally inclined, maladjusted mis fits will seek out and destroy helpless victims to get their “blaze of glory” no matter what. Want to really have a race, don't fixate on blabbering on about how the bad guy could have pumped 98 bullets out in less than a minute. In the first place, it only sounds impressive to the ignorant. He killed 13 people, he could have done it with a couple of rusty revolvers and taking his time to carefully reload. There was nobody there to stop him. If he really wanted to just create horrible results, he could have chosen a larger group of unarmed victims and taken out hundreds with a couple of dollars worth of gasoline and a few glass bottles, sort of a poor man's version of 911. Of course then the media would be fixating on what we Americans had done to drive him to this, not on the easy access to gasoline. Or, I could be wrong and we'd all be facing TSA screening, and having to hold our pants up without a belt while we fill our cars with $12.00 a gallon gasoline.

Using this line of reasoning would obviously necessitate a much higher price for Coup Devilles, Low Riders and Nike's.

Pathetically stupid. These idjits simple choose to ignore the simple rights outlined in the US Constitution, in hopes that the rest of us won’t notice, or won’t stop them if we do.

This kind of asinine thinking will surely draw us closer to the precipice of extreme civil disobedience and beyond.

It’s time to take back the country.

Like we didn't see this coming.

Expect a ban on foriegn-made ammo from Russia (like "Wolf" brand) as well as a huge tax on ammo within six months.

Of course, the Obama lapdogs at AP are out there shaping public opinion in preparation.

> “I asked our range officer and he said easily in a minute you could rip off 98 rounds,” said Police Chief Joseph Zikuski. “Our range people tell us it was over in a minute, a minute and a half. It doesn’t take long. Especially, it’s our understanding that he was an accomplished marksman.”

I guess the Police Chief doesn’t get to the range very often, ay. He shouldn’t have to ask his range officer this — he should know.

When the SHTF, they'll be going off on each other.

My anti-gun neighbors will be at my door begging for protection one day....

The "it can't happen here, that's against the law crowd"....those that failed to remain vigilant and stock provisions will suddenly turn violent.....

98 rapid fires under pressure and no missfeeds/stovepipes.......him........that casts doubt.

They already have raised the price of ammunition. They have done it simply by fear of future legislation.

Why not increase his $$$$ from the taxpayers.

Or if you are in his situation they should give us FREE ammo.

They claim he fired 98 shots, in under a minute, from 2 handguns? What kind of handguns are capable of that?

It certainly casts doubt, as you say.

With 30 round magazines and a minute-and-a-half, that’s just over one round per second and two quick magazine changes. BANG-thou-sand-BANG-thou-sand-BANG-thou-sand...

Not beyond the realms of possibility. My point was more “why did the Police Chief need to ask his range officer whether this could be done? He should have known from personal experience at the range.”

A Glock 18 or a modified Glock to fire full auto and just three 33 round Scheer mags.
