53% of Americans say, “Wait, what’s capitalism again?”

These “Americans” “think” this way because they attended socialist schools—i.e., government schools. They TEACH socialism by BEING socialist. They cannot be “fixed,” or “restored,” or “improved.”

They must be abolished.

Any “conservative” who thinks that “better” government schools are the answer is delusional, a think-inside-the-box pseudo-conservative.

Great job by our Public Schools on teaching the difference. Do our NEA dues payers KNOW the difference?

Of all of the bad news that we have endured these last six months (since November), I think that this is the most disheartening.

The results of the leftist control of the universities and especially the schools of education - leading to control of all of the schools. Bill Ayers must be proud.

We are very close to game over for America as a republic under the rule of law.

BTW: There’s no such thing as “capitalism.”

“Capitalism” is not an “ism.” I.e., it is NOT an ideology.

So-called “capitalism” is simply a name for what happens when people are free.

Better people should be asked whether they prefer freedom or slavery.

Actually, this isn’t that surprising given the fact that for 40 years the schools, universities and mass media have either been inferring or saying outright that Capitalism is evil and socialism is the only way the ‘little guy’ can be equal with everyone else.

What’s sad is that we have so many stupid people who ignore history and believe this garbage.

The poll is completely meaningless unless the pollster is confident that the people sampled acyually understand the difference between socialism and capitalism. Since many products of the public school system can’t even find their own state on a map, I would say that the pollster has a heavy burden to meet.

They don’t even know what socialism means.

The issue should be framed was whether one wants to make the significant decisions in ones life for oneself, or wants the state -- that is politicians who crave increasing power -- to make them. Or in terms of whether one wishes to be independent of government for ones sustenance and livelihood or dependent on government.

Does the state have any power independent of the power delegated by the people?

The end of days are near. They just are. I will not tolerate the presence of a liberal in the next life.

That’s scary, it means 47% of Americans are real losers.

I can’t bring myself to believe this poll. What is wrong with these people? I’d still be shocked if it was only 25% that wanted socialism, but 47% is downright frightening!

Socialism, along with the other forms of authoritarianism, destroy human capital. The economic philosophy doesn’t maximize human potential, it caps potential.

It's over. We can scream and bitch about politics all we want, but these numbers by Rasmussen demonstrate that our media and public schools have won the battle between conservatism and liberalism.

I think I'm just going to stop worrying about this crap and concentrate on my family and me. Our country is lost. There's no turning back now.

This part of the article kind of shook my brain: “Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided.”

Whoa. Either they have no idea what these terms mean or they do know and actually adhere to these ideals in the reported numbers. Either way, it does not bode well for the future of this country.
