PORTLAND, Maine Olympia Snowe may be among a shrinking number of moderate Republicans in the U.S. Senate, but she's making no apologies for being a centrist in a party that has shifted to the right over the past couple of decades.
"It's not healthy for the country to have parties with polar opposite views without that bridge that you need to build consensus," Snowe told the Associated Press on Friday.
With America facing an economic crisis, lawmakers cannot remain locked in their ideological corners, said Snowe, who has represented Maine in the Senate since 1995. Instead, she recalled how she worked with President Barack Obama to cut some of the spending from his economic stimulus package so it could win the moderate Republican votes needed for passage.

It isn’t just me; I suspect most people would want to avoid compromise with the national socialists running the country these days

The RINO Party Alert.
Just say no to liberals, turncoats, and traitors!
We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals of our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all. President Ronald Wilson Reagan

So just how many trillions in debt will you compromise for?

...but she's making no apologies for being a centrist in a party that has shifted to the right over the past couple of decades. As if the Commie Democrats haven't "shifted to the left over the past couple of decades." Snowe needs to hang it up and go home to "spend more time with the family."

Who needs elections when you have plenty of “moderates” helping to give the country away?
When you pay your inflated taxes on April 15th smile and think of Spector, Snowe, McCain. :) At least they get to keep their jobs. :D

President Bush tried to be “bipartisan” and when he extended his hand, pulled back a bloody stump.
That should have been the end of it, but to his detriment, he kept trying. Can’t change that.
To liberals, islamofascists and communists, going halfway, negotiating or being “bipartisan” are all signs of weakness to be exploited.
I agree with muir_redwoods on this.

It takes two sides to be bipartaisan, and so far I don’t see a whole lot of interest on the part of the Democrats.
To: rabscuttle385
Oddly, I don’t ever remember her saying that about democrats.
