I think Obie is running scared now. He had no idea what he was getting himself into. He has seen the threat assessments that show the terrorists hate him just as much as they did Bush and Clinton. His European tour was a disaster and the economy isn't coming back. He has filled less that one percent of his staff positions and the ones that have been filled have been ineffective.

He will crack before four years are up. Look for him to become less and less accessible. Look for more and more meaningless distractions like dogs and pizza. The press will play along for a while but there will come a point where they can't cover for him any more.

Instead of asking if America was ready for a Black president, the media should have been asking what Black American was ready to be president. It certainly would not have been this one.

Miss Marple, your #44 is excellent and as usual you get it right. The only thing I think is critical to add is AMNESTY which BoomBoom is about to try ramming down our throats again.

Amnesty equals our very sovereignty, our ability to exist as a nation. ACORN is obviously designed to undermine exactly that so they combine well as an issue. Amnesty is already a hot button issue with the vast majority of Americans of all political persuasions except Communists.

OTOH as Morgan states interference with elections and the census are critical so maybe keeping ACORN/census separate from Amnesty is a good idea if we're looking for 3 big punchy uber issues that the inattentive but not stupid members of the electorate can easily grasp.

Maybe support for the military can combine with keeping our word to our allies all under the umbrella of keeping our citizens safe and secure. IOW, do you want you and your children to live? Then support our military and our proven allies!

Morgan, as you note judicial appointments are also critical and we already have political land mines throughout our legal system. Obviously the most visible are USSC appointments and they are most critical because they are our last ditch defense against the subverters ensconced on the lower courts.

Lower appointments will have to be fought on a local basis because very few people have the time or inclination to follow all the jurisdictions in the country and how many of us even know who's being appointed locally and what their actual agendas are. Maybe someone can/will form a group to monitor this and stimulate grass roots activists.

I think the USSC nominations can and hopefully will be fought as they come up and will certainly be big issues at the time, but not necessarily on full time radar (even if they should be).

This is particularly illustrative of what's in the WH:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Unicorn 6 this is COB6, WTF? Over.

This is what happens when your President is more interested in being a “citizen of the world” than being a G**Damn American!

Naturally the MSM ignored the story but the Telegraph picked up:

White House officials travelled to France at the start of March to discuss a visit by Mr Obama to Omaha Beach, the site of the American Cemetery, established in 1944 just after D-Day and where 9,387 American personnel are buried. Among them is Theodore Roosevelt Jr the eldest son of the 26th US President.

French officials and senior American military officers walked with White House staff through the cemetery discussing how the two presidents might follow the same route. But even before their trip, the White House had decided that Mr Obama would not travel there this week.

"It wasn't going to happen," said an American official in Washington. "We went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.

"During this trip, we wanted to maintain a balance between the British, German and France".

I always suspected that there was more than just amateurish ignorance behind the useless DVD gift to the UK Prime Minister and groping the frigging Queen but this is more than I can take.

“…giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.”

Mr. President, honoring our dead is not giving special treatment to anyone other than those men who earned it. As far as special treatment for France, there are 9,387 Americans buried there who gave more to France than you could ever imagine in a thousand years.

“…went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.”

Give me a break!

If this was not politicizing our greatest heroes, WTF was it? Apparently honoring your betters was not on the agenda either. Mr. President, if you need a reminder of what is more important that your latest polls in Berlin, feel free to watch this. What an absolute friggin’ disgrace!

Thanks.

I've listened to Rush long enough to know he uses FR for show prep. One of his crack staff has probably already seen the post and if it fits, he'll use it. :)

Obies failure to visit the IZ last week and the excuse his staff gave still frosts me. Helicopters were flying in Baghdad that day and there was no bad weather. The Iraqis had to convoy out to him. The truth is if the weather is too bad to fly, then it is too bad for a high value convoy because you can't get air support and lose some of the intel support you have in good weather. I just think the guy was too scared to come.

Or he is racist. (Found out that Gurkhas guard a lot of our bases now.)

A SEAL team could have eliminated this threat long ago.

The only possible explanation for it lasting so long is political. This administration is playing for time because they want to avoid using force or having one of these “undocumented seamen” killed.

Good news. Captain Phillips has been rescued and three of the four pirates are dead.

(I’m going to laugh if the fourth is taken to Gitmo.)

Excellent points.

Russia will happily volunteer do it for Europe, since Europe won’t do it for itself.

Europe won't because Europe can't. For decades if not a century, our military, its hardware, and Joe Sixpack's tax dollars, driven by the government's resolve to thwart communism's march, provided for Europe's defense and security. This freed up for social programs the Europeans' billions that would have otherwise gone to defense, and thereby created, fostered, and ensured a dependent, helpless society. It is easy for a government to play Santa Claus when someone else not only provides for its defense but picks up the tab as well. The downside to this becomes apparent when the benevolent police force pulls out or is driven out, leaving behind a bunch of spoiled inacapables with lots of stuff that their neighbors would like to make their own.

China could squeeze concessions from Japan and South Korea to stop the Norks.

Without the oft and popularly maligned junkyard-dog-US covering the front gate and back fence, what is to stop the Chinese from moving on its neighbors? Nothing. China is today in a position to run a protection racket that would make the best of the worst of the glory days mob weep in envy. Worse yet, they have major economic and financial clout, have become the producer and freight handler to not just our nation but the world (conceit to Sandburg duly noted), seem to be having a field day with the world's IT infrastructure, . . . and they have that ever-growing and evolving military.

And in the Middle East it will either be Israel — which can protect the Arab countries from nuclear attack by Iran — or it will be the mad mullahs of Qom. I would guess that the Israelis will bomb Iranian nuclear facilities, with the covert help of Arab Gulf states.

One day and no one knows when that will be, Middle Eastern oil will become a non-issue. The world will either replace it with the next big thing, deplete it, or render it unreachable/unusable after AHBL in the region and the place is rendered an uninhabitible deserted wasteland--may Heaven forbid. Remove oil from the equation and what does the ME have left to offer? Technology? Funded by what? Oil revenues? Yes. Take away the oil and the prize that is the ME suddenly becomes bigtime dependent on the world beyond. Everything the ME brings to the table rides on that oil in one way or another. Everything the world beyond the ME has on the table is linked in one way or another to that bet. Look for the one thing that all the above have in common and it is ME oil. Even if a given country does not need the ME's oil for fuel or its petroleum derivatives for industrial products and manufacturing, it still depends directly or otherwise on the wealth that oil generates to keep the wheels of trade and finance rolling.

Like it or not, the USA, China, Russia, and all the rest depend on a secure if not stable ME and its oil. Lest we forget, Israel's existence and security is also tied to that oil and in a big way: just ponder for a moment what happens in the streets of Israel's neighbors the day they no longer have that revenue stream. Radical Iran and its proxies pose a threat to everyone's apple carts. In the case of Iran it is not enough to look at "the cop"; we have to look at the "police force" that is coming together behind the scenes: enter the Chinese, Norks, Rooskies, and a host of other unsavory bit players. Then we have to look at who is most likely to rise to the rank of Chief of Police. Meanwhile, there are two cards face-up in this game: Israel and oil. Iran is the wild card and it's a joker to be sure.

I do not know who will ultimately play the cop, but I will wager that cop's beat will be first and foremost the ME. Whoever polices the area will control the area, and all that goes on there will be will be at his behest and to his benefit. JMO

“Now get out and attend a tea party.” I am shocked at how many people don’t know what we are talking about. The media has evidently kept this under wraps.

From an article on the thread about the rescue with three of the four pirates dead:

"The negotiations between the elders and American officials have broken down. The reason is American officials wanted to arrest the pirates in Puntland and elders refused the arrest of the pirates," said the commissioner, Abdi Aziz Aw Yusuf.

Now that the heroic Captain is safe, I'm very glad negotiations broke down. This is a much better solution!

Easter dinner was in fact Christmas dinner because dad was in hospital for Christmas.

So we had roast goose with Yorkshire Pudding, followed by Christmas pudding.

Now we’ll have Obama taking credit for it all. Then they’ll move the live one to NYC and have a fiasco show trial.

Best comment I heard, Praise for the Easter Seals.

I as on heavy doses of IV antibiotics in November and December 2005,into January, 2006. Did not get t he side effects your husband did, but I got the infection clotilde difficultis which lasted up till recently. It is no fun, since it involves continual explosive diarrhea. Sounds like he didn't get that. It is treated by the very expensive medication vancomycin, costing nearly $2000/month. If it doesn't work the ultimate treatment is so disgusting I won't mention it here.

Looks delicious snugs. I’ve never had goose, but I should since I’m fond of dark meat.

“Happy Easter. The Lord is Our Rock and Our Salvation. No gummit can take that from us or add that to themselves.”

Speaking of....I just want to make a prediction...Obama is celebrating or did celebrate the Jewish thingy last Friday (I don’t know the terminology...)and he is doing that so that when Muslim holiday rolls around, the WH can’t partake in that and nothing can be said....JMO...and I hope I am wrong...but I have an uneasy feeling...

"McCain...the WORST CANDIDATE EVER.

Dole was worse.

Especially considering the environment in which Dole ran. Everything that McCain had against him, Dole had for him. What's more, the GOP and the conservative movement in general, had their biggest gains in '94.

And yet, that same GOP ran a unquestionable war hero and patriot but an equally unquestionable moderate. When you run a moderate, you'll lose every time, regardless of what the the political climate may or may not be.

One thing better about Dole, he didn’t get well known by attacking other Republicans.
