Wheeling, WV -- In more than 2,000 cities across this great country, hundreds of thousands of people gathered to re-make history. Officials estimate more than 1,200 people packed Wheeling's Heritage Port Wednesday evening for this Tax Day Tea Party. Wheeling was one of many places around the Ohio Valley that held these events, which were aimed at protesting recent government borrowing and spending. At this event, several speakers addressed the large crowd at 6:00 on the same day Americans pay their federal income tax.
I asked, "tell us why you're here today?" Wheeling resident David Kenamond said, "to stop all the frivolous spending for the government and hopefully so it doesn't hand down to my children and I also have a small business here in the Valley and it's going to end up hurting me in the long run, too."
