I think the area here in NYC was actually cleaner after we left than before we got there. Quite a contrast to the lefty “environmentalists’ slobs.

Thanks for the ping!!

In the future, FR should send out FR buttons or t shirts for quarterly donations to FR for FReepers to Identify themselves to other FReepers at future events...I hope this is just the beginning of much larger events to come!

Seeing all of the pics here in the last day or two gives me reason to believe there is still hope for our Country.

When are we going to learn to take photos from a distance and up high, to show the whole event size?

Here's a link to that repulsive New York Times op-ed piece of Krugman's that was mentioned by a speaker last night (didn't catch her name). Get a huge barf bag ready.

Had trouble finding the red sculpture so I just went on to the park. Other freepers there: Cacique, Gerard (the freeper formerly known as Do Not Dub Me something or other), davide, probably others.

Good shots but they do not really show the size of this thing. They kept closing off lanes of Broadway till there was only one left. Huge contingent across Broadway on the sidewalk too. I was truly amazed.

Did anyone from New York City see any coverage of this event in NYC on any of the major networks (ABS, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc)? Because I didn’t see any of their satellite vans there. All I saw was WPIX (channel 11 in NYC) and some other van without a name. I think CBS might possibly have been there, but I’m not sure.

I saw some vans on the Centre Street side but no one really taping at the rally itself. Lots of press though (they were behind the platform). Nice pictures in the NYPost this morning--one that is not in the online edition of a guy holding a huge, clear sign that said:

HONK IF I'M PAYING YOUR MORTGAGE.

Am so glad that you posted a visual history lesson! thank you!

You're welcome. But I left out the fact that the Weather Underground were communist revolutionaries. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who do not know this. Even Hannity rarely brought it up during the election. He only described them as "domestic terrorists".

"Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at"
-Bill Ayers (1970), quoted in the New York Times, September 11, 2001:

From American Thinker, September 16, 2008
Article: Obama's Foul Weather Friends
By Scott Swett and Roger Canfield

"As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who [Bernardine] Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' He said, '

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
"FBI files from 1976, recently made public under the Freedom of Information Act, confirm the connections between Weatherman, Havana, and Moscow. Weatherman leaders like Mark Rudd traveled illegally to Havana in 1968 to engage in terrorist training. There, camps set up by Soviet KGB Colonel Vadim Kotchergine were educating Westerners both in Marxist philosophy and urban warfare."

Must see video:

Undercover agent Larry Grathwohl discusses the Weather Underground's post-revolution governing plans for the United States:

Larry Grathwohl:

"I asked, 'well what is going to happen to those people we can't reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?' and the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers. And when I say 'eliminate,' I mean 'kill.' Twenty-five million people. I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people. And they were dead serious."

Bill Ayers Talks About Election Night in Grant Park
[Obama win brings commie Ayers to tears!]

From NBC Chicago, Jan 21, 2009:

Bill Ayers was "overflowing with happiness, relief, love" when he and his wife went to Grant Park with tens of thousands of Chicagoans to celebrate the election of President Barack Obama.

Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, spoke exclusively with NBC Chicago's Dick Johnson about why they joined the Election Night celebration in the park, where 40 years before they helped stage the Days of Rage riots.

The couple said they got last-minute tickets from a friend to be in Grant Park that night.

"I couldn't stop crying a couple of times. I found the exact spot where I was beaten 40 years ago," Ayers said. "But I've never been in a crowd that large that wasn't edged with either anger or drunkenness or gluttony, and it was really an extraordinary feeling."

Thanks for the link. Here is the pic.

BTW: Is that the "red statue" where FReepers were supposed to meet in the background? If so, it's actually not a statue, but one of those weird liberal abstract sculptural monstrosities.
