What About Rick Perry In 2012?

Posted on 04/16/2009 5:45:23 PM PDT by Jaguarmike

Has anyone mentioned his name as a GOP candidate for president? He's certainly said all the right things in the last month. He's got experience - he's been governor of TX since Bush took the White House.

Is this a guy who would excite you if he ran? Could he win in the general election?

‘fraid not. He’s been pro-amnesty in the past.

I was answering the former question. I don't know about the latter one.

As a native Texan I can tell you...

Perry has been a jerk and just happened to jump onboard the right train for the moment.

Perry is a proven RINO who for one brief moment yesterday looked like he grew a pair.

I heard he toned down the rhetoric already and pretty much caved on his secession speech.

I will stick with Palin for now.

Not for President. Gov Good Hair is in the news lately and is turning sharp Right, but he has a RINO history on several issues.. Great on economics and taxes.. a lot of folks are disappointed with him on the TTC and immigration (although he did fight for Operation Linebacker to move the guard to the border and the Feds stopped him...)

I don’t mind keeping him for Governor, especially with KBH being on the ballot against him, but I don’t think he would cut it as Prez..

I know little of him, but generally, I’m tired of Politicians who SAY the right things, but do the wrong thing. Especially those who turn to the right when it’s politically expedient.

What about Texas and a few other states suceeeding before 2012? ;-)

Perry is pro-amnesty and until he changes that tune then I doubt he is the real deal.

Palin is talking about global warming! I am jumping off her train. I was wondering if Perry would back down the next day and it sounds like he caved based on your message.

I am think Michelle Bachmann of MN or Jim DeMint. Sanford was a maybe but he may be another Perry.

No, and I'm from Texas. I would vote Constitution Party or Libertarian, whichever had the least kooky candidate first.
