Napolitano: Veterans are Targets of Right-Wing Extremist Recruiters
Fox News Online ^ | April 19, 2009

Posted on 04/19/2009 5:35:11 PM PDT by pleikumud

he head of homeland security said Sunday she regrets that some people took offense over a report warning that right-wing extremist groups were trying to recruit disgruntled troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

But Secretary Janet Napolitano added that "a number of groups far too numerous to mention" want to commit domestic terrorism attacks and are looking for new recruits.

She told a cable news network the warning report that went out to American law enforcement agencies was consistent with reports that were issued before.

"Here is the important point. The report is not saying that veterans are extremists. Far from it. What it is saying is returning veterans are targets of right-wing extremist groups that are trying to recruit those to commit violent acts within the country. We want to do all we can to prevent that," she said.

The intelligence assessment released to law enforcement on April 7 claims news of recession, the election of an African American president, rumors of new gun restrictions and the inability of veterans to reintegrate create fertile ground for radicalizing and recruiting right-wing extremists

Of particular interest among radicals is possible recruitment of returning troops with "combat skills and experience" so as to boost their "violent capabilities," the report said.

“a number of groups far too numerous to mention”

Obama has no hesitation releasing sensitive documents which devastate our intelligence gathering capabilities.
But, they get shy and refuse to name any of the hundreds of groups suddenly recruiting the blood thirsty ,
stupid, gun loving,
racist, baby killers ?
The same men and women that were known during the Bush administration as proudly and honorably serving their country.
It’s also amazing that only white members of the military could ever be lured by extremist organizations.
If we had a Commander in Chief who respected the military ,Napolitano would have already been fired.
But, Obama will probably give her a promotion and a commendation.

Napolitano has a file herself:

Janet Napolitano
The governor who vetoed legislation intending to prevent voting by foreign invaders...”

Watch out for when they start to refer to us as myrmidons. Absolutely dead-on sign of a '60s/'70s crypto-Stalinist graduate of prestigious eastern liberal universities. Intellectuals who can't resist using the term among themselves and left coast comrades when referring to veterans, regardless of date of service.

Take it from a Blue Water Navy Vietnam veteran. (Yeah, and contrary to what you hear, I did get spit on. Personally.)

FYI: Dictionary: Myr·mi·don   (mûr'mə-dŏn', -dn)

Noun;

  1. Greek Mythology. A member of a warlike Thessalian people who were ruled by Achilles and followed him on the expedition against Troy.
  2. myrmidon A faithful follower who carries out orders without question.

[From Middle English Mirmidones, Myrmidons, from Latin Myrmidones, from Greek Murmidones.]

There is a question that sits like an 900 lbs gorilla next to Napolitano and 0bama. No administration before them, not Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton or George Bush has ever declared its military, the same people who daily put their lives on the line defending this country, to be a threat to national security.

What does the 0bama administration plan to do that will make these very people who swear to protect and defend the constitution want to attack the govt?

Someone in our govt or media needs to start asking what is really going on here. It’s not about Napolitano being a nutcase because they actually are afraid of the military. We need to get them to show the country their fear of the people who defend us, their fear of those who obey the law, their fear of those who believe in this country and though they probably will never admit it, make it clear to all the real reasons why they fear America and its defenders.

Of course returning vets get recruited into “right-wing-extremist” groups....where do you think the VFW, American Legion, and NRA get their members? /s

Since I am not too smart, it must have been easy :O)

"Napolitano said that "a fair reading of the report" would show that it is not trying to "give offense" but providing "situational awareness."

Whew, that's a relief. She's not trying to offend all of us right wing extremists, just warn others about us.

But Secretary Janet Napolitano added that "a number of groups far too numerous to mention" want to commit domestic terrorism attacks and are looking for new recruits.

Actually, I think the Secretary should name them and present the evidence if she is going to make such vague and broadspread allegations.

Ok, so let me get this right, she is saying...

Our soldiers, who are sacrificing their lives to fight terrorism for our country, may be a target of recruitment to commit terrorism when they return from the ME? OMG, that’s insane sounding.

May God bless our military, our troops, and our vets, Amen.

They say it would harm our country if they released the TARP recipients, yet they release our interrogation methods and discredit our veterans.

Non-Veterans FAR MORE likely to commit crimes:

From http://stumpedagain.wordpress.com

_______

“On second thought, maybe we should be on the lookout for Non-Veterans?

I’m really sick of this bigotry…….and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano is but the latest example of a disgusting ignorant prejudice that lives, respected, repeated, and honored, by the movers and shakers in our society. And now the anti-military bigots are in the highest seats of government.

Her warning, sent out last week to every law enforcement agency in the nation, stated that law enforcement on the lookout for terrorists should be particularly wary of military veterans.

Because, you know, they are unstable.

This ignited a firestorm in some quarters (though not in Hyde Park, Harvard or Boulder). So under pressure, she apologized, sort of. Napolitano said she felt genuinely bad for law-abiding vets who may have felt unappreciated. But she didn’t apologize for her story line, and indeed, went on in her “apology” to point out that, well you know, Timothy McVeigh was a soldier, you know.

Which goes to show you, lots of veterans are unstable, you know.

If you don’t believe veterans are unstable, click yourself some Netflix. Hollywood, in its thoughtless reversion to stereotype, loves to feature the pitiable crazy vet, locked in a nightmare of violence. And why should we bother to investigate the facts in cold and silent black and white when we have the gory intensity of the surround-sound screen to inform us?

Or we could rely upon the press, who, when a crime is committed by a veteran, never fails to make that the central, salient feature of the narrative. They don’t report whether the criminal is Protestant or Catholic, a Buddhist or a Baptist, Republican or Democrat, or whether he’s a college graduate or a community-college dropout. But a veteran? Oh, baby, now there’s a story line!

And those stories, true stories, make it clear that vets are unstable.

Or are they?

It is a fact that Timothy McVeigh was a soldier. It’s also a fact that there are 26 million male veterans in the United States. That’s a lot —one out of every 5 adult males. If veterans had a tendency toward instability, they should account for for more than 1/5 of crimes committed.

But they don’t.

There are no direct statistics regarding how many crimes are committed by veterans, but in 2000, the Justice Department commissioned a study of how many veterans are incarcerated in prisons, federal and state, across the US. The results may surprise some. The study, http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/press/vpj.pr reported that adult male veterans had an incarceration less than half that of adult male non-veterans.* When one throws in the further qualifier of “honorably discharged veterans”, the contrast increases, and a 2005 study suggests the gap may be widening yet further.

So, dear gentle ladies,

The bottom line for you is this: If that man beside you is not an honorably discharged veteran, he is two and a half times more likely to be a dope-dealing, bank-robbing, child-abusing, murdering rapist. Not to mention a terrorist.

Let caution be your guide.

“[T]he hour is fast approaching, on which the Honor and Success of this army, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend. Remember officers and Soldiers, that you are Freemen, fighting for the blessings of Liberty - that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity, if you do not acquit yourselves like men.”

—George Washington, General Orders, 23 August 1776

According to Obama and Napolitano, General Washington would be a dangerous person, susceptible to brain-washing by Islamists and other dangerous radical groups. Obama and Napolitano are Socialists and Liars who would destroy what the Founding Fathers built.
