Wiretap Recorded Rep. Harman Promising to Intervene for AIPAC

Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington.

Harman was recorded saying she would "waddle into" the AIPAC case "if you think it'll make a difference," according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript.

In exchange for Harman's help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections, which the Democrats were heavily favored to win.

Seemingly wary of what she had just agreed to, according to an official who read the NSA transcript, Harman hung up after saying, "This conversation doesn't exist."

Bwahahahahaha ~ this on the heels of the news that Harmon was the ONLY member of that committee to say she objected to waterboarding and loud voices.

Wonder who was on the other end of that recording ~ was it Emanuel's friends, or Netanyahu's friends?!

But it's NSA. This is someone in NSA blowing the whistle on Harman. (And, no doubt, the suspected agent had his or her own recording of that call).

So, is it NSA, or is it someone who says "NSA has this call, take a listen"?

My money is on a whole big bunch of people who blew the whistle on the oh so untrutworthy Harman.

They did it simultaneously. Makes you wann'a check out their Blackberries to see what their Twitter message said.

The case against Rosen is falling apart with or without Harmen.

The entrapment of that person was ridiculous anyway.

For years FBI agent Szaidy tried to link AIPAC (no, I'm not a member of that group) with spying. Failing that, Szaidy did an entrapment scheme for someone who did not sign a government secrets act in the first place and was not a member of the government.

It's obvious why the Muslim kid Obama released this.

I’m not a fan of Harmon at all, but it sounds like the conversation started wandering into the realm of quid pro quo and she backed off.

I would toss this in the face of congressional democrats as an honesty test. Put the facts out as publicly as you can and they start asking them what they are going to do about it every time you get the chance.

I heard this tonight, and I laughed. I pray that when she goes down, she takes the wicked witch Pelosi with her!

I haven’t seen any tv coverage identify her as a democrat.
