Censorship in Texas: Fighting Academic and Religious Discrimination

by James J. S. Johnson, J.D.*

"Stop the presses!" That was one of the effects of the decision of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) in Austin, Texas, on April 24, 2008, when the Institute for Creation Research Graduate School (ICRGS) was told that it could not move its 27-year-old Master of Science program to Texas, nor could it recruit students from Texas to apply to its California graduate school. Why? Because ICRGS does not teach science from an evolution-only viewpoint...

I think the ICR is missing a point in basic English.

Master of Science requires that you teach science.

Feel free to offer a Master of Theology/Philosophy on creation though.

If that’s the standard you want to apply to Creation Science, then you need to apply the same standard to Darwood’s fanciful creation myth. Neither creation nor goo-to-you evolution has EVER been observed, therefore if one is included then both should be included. Conversely, if one is excluded, then both should be excluded.

Never heard of forensic science. Okay. Even the highly-religious Isaac Newton resisted the temptation to say "God did it" to fill the gaps when he was working on his scientific principles.

Who’s Darwood?
________

LOL. GGG specializes in preaching to the choir, and the choir is apparently amused when he uses Darwood instead of Darwin. It’s a middle-school tactic that still plays well for some.

This isn't really an issue of science to their side. It's an issue of religion and proselytization, and a scapegoat for all the troubles in the world. Juvenile slander is common in what for them is a deeply emotional issue.

Me, I could care less whether Darwin was right. I just want the best science, and right now Evolution offers it and ID offers a science to propaganda ratio approaching zero.

I know. It’s an immature method of argument. I’m just curious as to why GGG (who seems smarter than that) would employ such childish tactics.

Evolosers are likely concerned that evoloserism could not survive without government coercion and money. God of course can do quite nicely without government intervention...
