Conn. House and Senate Pass Gay Marriage Bill; Rell Will Sign It
Hartford Courant ^ | April 22, 2009 | Christopher Keating

Posted on 04/22/2009 8:58:26 PM PDT by campaignPete R-CT

The state House of Representatives passed the gay marriage bill late Wednesday night - codifying the State Supreme Court's controversial decision that legalized gay marriage in Connecticut. The House voted, 100 to 44, several hours after the state Senate had voted, 28 to 7, to approve the codification. Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she will sign the bill into law. The bill was supported on the House and Senate floors by the two co-chairmen of the legislature's judiciary committee - Rep. Michael P. Lawlor of East Haven in the House and Sen. Andrew McDonald of Stamford in the Senate.

gay-marriage enforcement in Connecticut. This bill does more than codify the court decision.

this bill does not balance anything

http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-senate-oks-same-sex-marriage-exemption,0,3140516.story

“The state Senate this evening approved a measure that supporters say balances the rights of gay couples with those who hold religious objections to same-sex marriage.

The vote came after nearly three hours of often impassioned debate. Strictly speaking, lawmakers were voting on a bill that implements the landmark state Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage.

But opponents of gay marriage, including the Roman Catholic Church and the Family Institute of Connecticut, had sought legal protections for business owners and organizations that oppose same-sex marriage on religious grounds. Clergy opposed to gay unions were already exempt.”

This will result in the persecution of those with religious beliefs. This is tyranny.

Another excellent example of the total uselessness of a RINO governor

Meghan McCain says the GOP needs to ditch the Religious Right. Jodi Rell has 70% approval ratings in CT. Perhaps Meghan McCain will promote Jodi Rell for President as an alternative to Sarah Palin.

Unreal! When I was in high school in the early 80’s,AIDS was just coming to everyone’s attention. Now,a SINGLE generation later, the very lifestyle that caused and spread AIDS in this country is being affirmed,(and in some cases celebrated) by the courts and our representatives in public office. This is insanity!

You can classify me as a conservative atheist that does not like anything McRINO...and loves Palin and her family. I voted for her, not Juan.

I love people having the freedom to support their values, even if I disagree on some parts. I love my country and I love our founders’ principles.

GOP split 6 to 6 in Senate.
The 6 yeas ... several have Congressional ambitions.
perhaps they can go find some gay radicals to do door-to-door work for them.

they are permanently tainted.

Dred not - God is still in charge and His day is coming - we just don’t know the time, but we can be sure of the outcome.

Here’s a look into the future for ALL 50 states if Obama,Pelosi, and their ilk get the Defense of Marriage Act repealed,as they are on record as saying they want to do.

wmcb,
i pray that the good Americans that live in the 38 normal states will react to all this by continuing to give constitutional protection for traditional marriage.

the radicals are 1 vote short on the SCOTUS.

I fail to see the appeal of living in a nation with essentially two Democratic parties and no true conservative, moral party.

Mike Lawlor is a deranged pervert who must be defeated. East Haven is one of the few conservative enclaves on the CT shoreline. surely this homo Christophobe can be defeated.

those 6 conservatives in the Senate have a bright future ... we’ve been losing the battle at the grassroots level.

Caligiuri for Senate 2010 vs. Dodd.
