A White House official tells ABC News that President Obama was "furious" to hear about the incident this morning when Air Force One and Air Force fighter jets appeared to be flying into the Manhattan skyline, scaring many New Yorkers into thinking they were about to face another terrorist attack.
Many buildings in lower Manhattan evacuated. Angry New York politicians lashed out at whoever was responsible for the incident -- which turned out to have been for a photo op.
An explanation was forthcoming in a mea culpa statement issued from the White House.
“Last week, I approved a mission over New York," Louis Caldera, director of the White House military office, said.

Obama is about as furious with this as he is with actual terrorists.

So the financial crisis which his party precipitated was his responsibility (in a speech last month) but an air attack on NYC by his own staff is not his responsibility, riiiight.
His Administration is beginning to reflect his narcissism. They did not think for a moment how the people of New York would react to seeing a huge airliner buzzing the Manhattan skyline at low altitude.
It is a government of sociopaths.

Me too. A FOIA request should do it. No national security issues. It was just a “photo op”. Sure.
All that needs to be done to get to the truth of the matter is to interview the Air Force 2 crew and/or the F-16 pilots.
