Flashback: FReepers Storm Senator Benedict Arlen Specter's DC Office
Washington Times ^ | Feb 11, 2009 | By Melanie Morgan, Move America Forward

Posted on 04/28/2009 3:06:20 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I went to visit Sen. Arlen Specter to save him from an embarrassing pro-stimulus vote that will damage America's economy and send the nation back to 1970s-style stagflation.

Jim Robinson, founder of FreeRepublic.com, and I arrived at Sen. Specter's office with a group of folks who oppose the $1.5 trillion stimulus package, on this past Monday morning. We asked to see Sen. Specter. The office secretary didn't seem to be happy to see us. I could not blame her. We were there to embarrass her boss. Jim, wearing his Navy cap, asked about the senator's whereabouts, but the secretary wasn't helping. It was distressing to see a wheelchair-bound Navy veteran being treated with such disrespect by a senator's staff.

It is clear that Specter's front-office staff needs to do an internship at Wal-Mart to pick up tips on how to properly work as a greeter. While the staffer told us she didn't know where Specter was, the senator was on Laura Ingraham's national radio program, defending the stimulus bill and snidely calling her "young lady" when she challenged him.

The desk staffer warned me that I couldn't go into the backrooms. It went through my mind that I certainly should be able to walk through the doors because I helped pay for them with my tax money. But diplomacy kicked in, so I yelled some more.

Eventually, Specter's chief of staff emerged and took notes as our group told him how disgusted we were that his boss was favoring a stimulus bill that is overwhelmingly apposed by his constituents.

Liz Colby Harp brought her five homeschooled children so Specter could see whom he is saddling with trillions of dollars of future debts. She was gracious, intelligent and dead on with her remarks...

Memories . . . the way we were. Well, at least he’s not going to be embarrassing the GOP anymore, now Specter is an official libtard.

Laura Ingraham was right on the money several weeks ago when she had him on her show. She knew something was up so she asked Specter if it felt good to be wined and dined by the White House. She smelled a rat and his name is Arlen “Benedict Arnold” Specter.

BTW, “you don’t talk to me like that, young lady”! She hit a nerve in that interview.

Good job. I would also recommend prayer. I think we conservatives should wear a huge smile on our collective faces and remind these liberals that EVERYTHING that is happening now is payback from God for such rampant dissobedience. They should have been carefull of what they asked for.

We need to remain confident that He is in charge.

I just heard the best analogy I've heard in a while from Bill Kristol. It went something like, now Obama will need to explain why he couldn't get the votes from his own party instead of it's the Republicans standing in the way of getting the votes.

Sadly, there are politicians at every level in our nation who are just like him.

Few this high profile and this transparently avaricious.

The whole country has been watching this angst ridden dance daily, as his poll numbers drop into the muck. And does he care that he is seen as transparently full of crap? Not in the least. Amazing.

Specter has jumped from port to port but no worries, Jim. Geraldo just announced to the world on Fox News this morning that he’s a liberal republican in the same vein as Rudy and looks forward to the day when he will run for office.

I’ve known what he was since Waco and also the rationale to vote against convicting the Impeached His Slickness on the basis of “Scottish Law.”

I have a long memory and have not forgotten this. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Few at that level, but there is McCain, Snowe, and a few others. And no, I don’t think any of them would be reticent to change over parties, if they were threatened.

McCain is a weasel, but I cant say I know what he'd do.

But look at Spectre for a moment; 80 years old with Hodgkins disease , and hes been running slandering ads for weeks against a fellow Republican who hadnt even announced his official intention to run! And his equivocations and pleading and rationalizations in public over the Vote He screwed Up on! Oh, the angst! The shriveled up old fart will probably be dead in a couple of years and he has made the end game of his life into a laughingstock. What a pathetic old rodent; some legacy, eh? Don't tell me this isn't one for the books.
