I’m just a little ways up IH35 from these closings. My daughter was hoping her school would close too, until I pointed out that they would have to make up these days on the front end of Summer. She changed her tune right quick, lol.

Where’s that Chicken Little picture?

Day Care’s closing too huh?

So that means many Mom’s or Dad’s will have to stay home with the kiddo’s.

Never waste a crisis!

Maybe I should go out and get some N95 masks...

Too late - I looked last night and they're gone. I have a couple in each BOB (one in each car, one under my desk, one in the house) but I was going to add to the supply.

Several more school districts have closed down in the state of Texas in an effort to prevent the spread of the Swine Flu virus. Both New Braunfels ISD and Comal ISD closed today and will not reopen to students until May 11. In an effort to prevent any spread of what is being called a pandemic, two more school districts in the state of Texas have shut down until May 11 despite not having any reported cases of Swine Flu.

sorry but this swine flu is the most over hyped story of the year.

Maybe...maybe not.... My point....will we react like this in the event of an actual bio-terrorism attack? Will we be lulled into complacency that causes million to die?

Busy, busy, lol. Did you happen to come across and good recipes for salsa???

My daughter would have loved to avoid the TAKS. She’s taking her last one today. I feel bad for those kids who were all geared up for the testing. They make these kids crazy about them. Now they don’t get to take them until mid May.

CDC: US swine flu cases jump to 91 in 10 states
http://www.mysuncoast.com/Global/story.asp?S=10271414

The U.S. now has 91 confirmed cases of the new swine flu in 10 states.

Dr. Richard Besser, the acting chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says thus far only 5 of those cases needed hospitalization, including a Mexican toddler who became the first death recorded in the U.S., in Texas.

The increase is not surprising. For days, CDC officials have said they expected to confirm more cases - and more severe illnesses - as they intensively hunt down this new virus.

( They aren’t going to count the mild cases anymore the mayor says .... He said the city would be testing only severely ill people, because most of those hundreds of others can be assumed to be suffering from the virus and testing was not necessary )

Swine Flu Expands to More New York Schools
Schools in Queens and Manhattan Struck by Virus; Hundreds Taken Ill

New York City remained the hardest hit, with now 45 confirmed cases and many more suspected. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I) said the numbers likely include “hundreds” of students, staff members and family members from St. Francis Preparatory school in Queens who have become ill. He said the city would be testing only severely ill people, because most of those hundreds of others can be assumed to be suffering from the virus and testing was not necessary.

Students at St. Francis Prep, which has 2,700 students, told The Washington Post on Monday that hundreds of students had become ill and taken sick days last week. But only 45 students were tested specifically for swine flu and confirmed to be suffering from the virus.
