Specter Calls for Revolution and Uprising Against Republicans 'Far to the Right' Thursday, April 30, 2009 By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer
(CNSNews.com) - There ought to be a rebellion and an uprising against right-wing elements that are trying to purify the Republican Party, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania said Tuesday, shortly after he announced he would leave the Grand Old Party to become a Democrat.
Specter said Republicans "far to the right" in the party, who are more worried about ideology than winning elections, have brought about one costly defeat after another for the GOP, including the tabling of 34 of President Bushs nominees for federal judgeships. Those defeats were the result of the rights opposition to moderates in the party, such as himself, said Specter.
They [Republicans on far right] dont make any bones about their willingness to lose the general election if they can purify the party, Specter said at his Tuesday press conference. I dont understand it, but thats what they say.
And for the people who are Republicans to sit by and allow them to continue to dominate the party
there ought to be a rebellion, he said. There ought to be an uprising.

Moderates participating in an uprising?
Minute 16...
Dear Arlen,
We don’t listen to Democrats tell us what’s best for our party.
It’s kind of like the Yankees listening to the Red Sox about pitching tips.
What's the point of winning elections if nothing we want done actually gets done when we elect people to office. Guess what Mr. Specter it's not about you.
Got one with his name on it, if he wants to come and collect it.
THESE PEOPLE ARE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE!
Right, who cares about those pesky principles? All that matters is winning elections! The Dems and the GOP can all go to hell, worthless power-hungry parasites.
Yeah, that whole "principles" thing sure gets in the way sometimes.
So how does he explain McCain’s defeat?
like the girl that’ll do anything to be popular.......
Bork.
Nuff said.
Oh yeah. That’s Snarlin Arlen alright. LOL
Tell it to all your new buddies, Arlene.
He did a real good job of keeping moderates in by LEAVING THE PARTY rather than compete in an open primary!
Total A hole who has zero place telling republicans anything. He is not one. Go to hell Arlen, you are well on your way.
He's correct - he doesn't understand that Republicans won't win elections by being liberals. McCain proved that basic reality.
Spector, if we wanted massive spending, socialized health care, card check, command markets, controlled media, abortion... we’d be registered Democrat.
Since we don’t, we’re cleaning house in “our” party. And that’s kicking the far leftists out to the curb. You should tell your friends in Maine they’re next on the list.
This just proves that Specter is a rabid Fascist. This guy wants to obliterate America.
It’s amazing how many moles were in the GOP. The statists are coming out of the closet everywhere in society. Confrontation seems more and more likely every day, I’m afraid.
What's the maximum allowable I.Q. to become a senator?
Are you, by any chance, calling our dear Arlen a whore? ;)
"The president has called on Virginia to raise troops in preparation for the coming war. Tell the president we have done so."
I really don't think the Democrats should be calling for revolution and uprising. They're likely to get some.
That would be an insult to whores.
Why does he give a crap. He is a Democrat now. We do not need his suggestions or his opinions.
The hard right, whatever that means, is not the problem. Specter's gravy train could have been be in danger as it traveled through primary country; that is why he is now a Dem. And why we need term limits.
Two months ago he said the country needed two party balance; apparently America does not need two party balance if that might mean Specter could lose his cushy senate seat.
Republicans ‘Far to the Right’ need love too
I suspect the far right elements of the party are the Christian right.
This sounds like a declaration of the coming persecution of Christians.
My report is that Specter tried very hard to attract “righties” to his campaigns each time he ran. He solicited votes from everyone in Pennsylvania. This pompous old fool is following the moveon.org kooks. Pennsylvanians put him in office all these years and now he craps on them?
There has to be something wrong with him. He is usually more in tune with getting votes than this.
Arlen, your a loser.
People like Specter are hopeless. They cling to the notion that it is Conservatives (read right-wing) who are responsible for the GOP’s defeats, when instead the actual cause is the party’s drift AWAY from Conservatism which started right after Reagan left office.
I’m glad he’s going - the more of people like him we can get rid of, the better off we’ll be.
It seems to me that Spector was and is far more interested in winning reelections than in what the republican party, and himself as a member, were supposed to stand for.
And what he seemed to miss was that when those principals were abandoned by RINOs like himself, THAT’S WHEN the republican party really started losing!
Mark
Specter said Republicans "far to the right" in the party, who are more worried about ideology than winning elections...
No, there ought to be a rebellion against politicians who are only concerned with getting into power and staying in power. Ahem, Mr. Specter -- you were elected to serve your constituents not to serve yourself and your own goals and career.
I respectfully submit Mr. Specter, you just don't get it, or you've lost it - been in DC far too long. However, I'm confident the good people of my home state of PA will soon help you correct your perception by removing you from DC...
Arlyen Specter sells his soul to the devil, expects the Republican party to follow his lead.
Sorry Arylen... we don't compromise our values to suit our political needs.
Advice from Benedict Specter.
To the tune of that commercial jingle:
“You asked for it, you got it. You’re over!”
Spector should be hung by his balls, but that would be impossible.
Yes, we need a revolution but not the one Specter has in mind.
If Toomey doesn’t face any serious challenges, I am seriously considering switching my registration in PA to democrat so I can vote against this political whore
Arlen and the rest of the left are completely clueless as to who the “far right” really is.
Conservatives are made up of a very wide range of thoughts and beliefes. We’re certainly a far more diverse group than those that make up the left.
If I were a Pennsylvania resident, as a conservative Republican, I’d probably be somewhere between apathy and apoplexy with this t(f)ool...
Bring it on AH!
Liberty = Government protecting the atmosphere so that individuals can pursue happiness and be left alone. Life is protected as well as property. “Charity” is not forced by gunpoint and the General Welfare Clause is correctly observed through original intent (Madison).
Ideology = Seeking to control based on ones own prejudices. Specter is saying freedom is slavery while spending and debt is actual freedom. Piss off Specter, those who are for self-reliance and understand the Enlightenment are not ideologues. That would be Specter and those seeking to control through government coercion.
Specter has been the candidate and senator of the GOP 6 times! He left the party because the polls showed that out of millions of voters, most republicans would not select him again.
He wants voters PURGED from a party if they won’t support him the 7th time???? Maybe he’d like them killed. Certainly there is no place for them in his new party.
He’s a scumbag and I predict in the days ahead he will be totally exposed as a pathetic, unscrupulous dying old man.
The A hole just gave full control of the senate to democrats after telling voters for 30 years they were electing him as a republican. He is scum.
Specter was a Democrat, became a Republican, and is now a Democrat again.
So, to which party is he more a “Benedict”?
American people
Benedict Arlen needs to go home and “spend more time with his family.”
