Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.

Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).

But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

No one can hustle you out of a site that you own because you dislike Romney. :o)

I am against him too: he is on video as declaring how he would not oppose abortion even one iota. Then he fake switched positions for the 2008 primaries. He is a weasel: a Romney Administration would look like a Giuliani Administration.

The man who should be the nominee for President in 2012 is U.S. Congressman Mike Pence.

People will say that he doesn't have national name recognition, but neither did a lot of contenders before they joined the race. It has to be about quality first. Mike Pence has that.

What they should be doing is not "expanding beyond the conservative base". They should be "expanding the conservative base" by educating the politically ignorant how big government is antithetical to freedom and prosperity.

I didn’t like the GOP ticket, either, though I voted GOP as I always do. One thing that bothered me about Palin was her support of the public school system and funding. (We’re a homeschool family.)

But, maybe she’ll rethink that position over the next few years...

The thing that always gets me about those on FR singlemindedly driven to promote Romney is that some of them are so nasty.

In the end, they do their candidate of choice no good at all. A good friend of mine is a Democrat and I tell him that there is no way I could ever be in the same “tent” as Nancy Pelosi, Bobby Rush and Barbara Lee.

I remember some of those stories alleging McCain behaved dishonorably in Vietnam.

Then I saw Col. Bud Day give him his unqualified endorsement. In fact, just about everyone of McCain's fellow POWs endorsed him or praised his behavior in prison, unlike, say, Kerry's crew.

If want to believe every bad thing whispered about someone on the internet, I can't stop you but you are going to sound like a 9/11 truther.

If you want to attack McCain-Feingold or McCain-Kennedy, fine. I'll support you. But Dubya supported those things too. In fact, McCain might have better instincts and actually might be more conservative than Dubya was. At least McCain came out hard for the surge and against Fannie Mae's lending policies way before it was evident as to the disaster they would be.

Romney is a good personal I will not promote him for president where he is not welcome when the time comes it is still to early, but neither will I deny that he is a good conservative no matter how one tries to spin his health care etc people hear what they want to hear

I am not a shame I try myself to be a good person and will not shrink away from all this nasty negatvie things being said about Romney.

Peace to all of you, one can not help how another person heart feels about things and these are hard lessons to learn.

If I could have lived my life half as good as he did and the discipline to strive to do the right thing and endure those around you who will take things and bend them so out of shape people can not recognize them

Man. Eddie Haskell ain’t got nothin’ on Romney.

“It’s high time to put America’s kids first and leave the union bosses behind!” … tepid applause …

“The right answer for Detroit is this: Fix it first!” Huh? I suppose he’s talking about NOT bailing them out, because he just got through explaining that the TARP funds were somewhat justified … but still, Huh? It’s like another nonsensical gem:

“We will have to fight to make sure America stays America.” Such gratuitous flourish is all the more ironic because in the next few breaths he embraces “conservative” government “programs” to interfere with … er, “fix” health care, education, and energy “issues.” Back in the day, “America” meant freedom from such government meddling. My dear conservative Dad and Mom have pretty much always held up freedom from government meddling as being "America," as opposed to every other country that had government dictating health choices, education, energy, and who knows what else.

“[We conservatives] believe in Democracy …. Conservatives favor clear, streamlined, up-to-date regulations and laws that let the economy work ….”

Now, I know that plenty will accuse me of cherry-picking quotes. I’m not – two out of every three sentences from the guy are made up of this kind of prattle. Here’s another one – “To recover our country is our first concern.” Yeah, so tell me something I don’t already know.

The third of the sentences that deal with substance are pretty bothersome. For example, he talks about how Obama’s plan, while “some will help,” basically means “universal government, and that model has never worked anywhere in the world.” So what does Mitt want – semi-universal government? Is that what conservatives stand for? It sure sounds like that’s what he thinks – he goes on to talk about how his health plan in Massachusetts is a great thing. He says that “the power of the government is limited by the constitution.” Boy, that’s helpful! Thanks, Eddie … er, Mitt!

Then he says that with cap-and-trade, “let’s have a world-wide solution, not an American one” -- a solution to a “problem,” global climate control, that is a hoax power grab to justify control of energy production. He talks about “free markets properly regulated,” which sounds next-door to an oxymoron, and next says that in “some cases” Democrat policies “encouraged abuses at Fannie and Freddie, and in some cases those abuses were for political gain …. *sigh* Some cases? And excuse me, aren’t Freddie and Fannie the antithesis of free markets entities, kind of the way Public Radio is? So why is Romney legitimizing them as part of the playing field, instead of condeming their being players in a free market in thte firt place.

I’m afraid to even verbalize what I think a real conservative would say, because like suck-up Eddie Haskell who knew how to look like an angel to Church Ladies and Community Leaders, Romney would start saying them ignorant of the principle anchoring them, and people would actually fall for it. Some of us know when we’re being buttered up. Some of us know how to discern empty verbiage from real information.

But for the Romney fans, it goes right over their heads. Just like conservative principle sails over Romney's head.
