Schwarzenegger not switching parties
San Diego Union - Tribune ^ | 5/1/09 | John Marelius

Posted on 05/01/2009 2:59:15 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

Not that anybody asked, but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said on Friday that despite the superficial parallels between him and Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, he has no plans to change parties and become a Democrat.

"I was one of the first supporters of the Obama stimulus plan, even though I'm a Republican. I'm one of those few Republicans that jumped out and supported him. Right along with Arlen Specter, Senator Arlen Specter," the governor said in a speech to AltaMed's National Healthcare Reform Policy Forum in Beverly Hills.

"And the reason why I mention that is because I just want to make sure that you know I'm not going to become a Democrat because I'm supporting President Obama, because I think that the Kennedys have enough Democrats. I think it's about time that we have some Republicans also there."

Schwarzenegger backed Republican John McCain for president while wife Maria Shriver supported Obama. They had dueling cardboard cutouts of their candidates in their Brentwood home.

"I have a cutout at home of Obama. My wife has promised me that we will only have that cutout of Obama in our dining room until he wins. But he never left; the cutout is still there. So there are plenty of Democrats in our house and there are all kinds of debates and arguments.

"And people always ask me, this must be wild, you must have fights all the time about Democrats versus Republicans and about policy and politics and all those things. And I always tell them, actually we have no fights at all, especially since I've been sleeping in the garage. Everything is just fine, everything is fine."

ROTFL ... not switching parties? Based on how he governs, I already thought he was a Democrat.

Why not switch.. he is not a Republican in the way he has done his job as Gov...

In Fact.. I think his in-law politician relatives who have passed away would have been proud of him...

They have a cutout of nObama, how creepy.

“But he never left; the cutout is still there. So there are plenty of Democrats in our house and there are all kinds of debates and arguments.”

Debates and agruments, sure. I’m sure the girly man always gets the last word in, in these arguments, usually “yes dear”.

They have a cutout of nObama, how creepy.

If you think that is creepy, you'd probably not like the bust of Lenin
that he keeps in his Santa Monica office or the busts of Stalin
around his home swimming pool.
