Where are the Republicans?

I have bad news for you.

I have it on good authority that the congressional Republican leadership, if that is not an oxymoron, plans to give Barack Obama a pass on all of his major appointments.

They'll give them a bye.

They'll close their eyes, cover their ears and speak no evil against some of the most dangerous nominees for high posts in an administration in American history.

I'm talking about kooks and crazies like Cass Sunstein, the so-called "regulatory czar," who once proposed what can only be characterized as a "Fairness Doctrine" for the Internet including a notion for a mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period for sending angry e-mails. He believes animals have the right to file lawsuits, thinks hunting should be banned and sees no limits to government's power to restrict the sale and possession of firearms.

You’ve deluded yourself. More party factionalism, putting party before principle, is the disease, not the cure.

Republicans do not have the votes to STOP any of Obama’s appointments.
Better, perhaps, that Obama be saddled with obvious nut cases, in the long run, then allow Obama to pick “stealth” cabinet members and staff, who are every bit as liberal?

This is a judgment call.

I say we should pick on a few of the appointments, just to keep the “radical” issue in the news -— but we attack appointments only as a WEAPON against Obama -— we will not be able to stop very many, if any at all!

A Constitutional Convention will END America as we know it.
That is a very dumb idea, I agree.

“This is truly Bush’s fault. He ruined the R party forever. The republic is dead, long live the Fedzilla.

Your comment is quite infantile... However, I suggest you to go to the following website and read some of the Thank you letters to President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.

http://danareport.com/thank-you-president-bush-and-vice-president-cheney/

This is a little example of one of those letters: “Dear Mr. President,

Thank you for your service these last eight years in keeping us safe within our borders, giving our military a commander-in-chief of moral standing and dealing with crisis and hardship with strength, compassion and optimism., etc., etc.”

Good stewardship of resources IS a good principle.

In any “just war” the most humane way to FIGHT that war is to fight for VICTORY as quickly as possible.

Factionalism will happen in ANY group of people. You have little understanding of human nature, psychology, group dynamics or politics if you think that you can keep ANY political party “pure”, even for a moment.

A Political Party whose members ALWAYS agree with YOU will ALWAYS be small enough to fit in the average Church basement.

Actually, from your posts, you remind me more of pig pen than Charlie Brown or Lucy.

You just want to make a stink, but you really don’t want to accomplish anything.

You just want revenge against Republicans you do not like.

There must always be room for debate. On negotiables.

Do you have any principles that are non-negotiable?

You just want to make a stink, but you really don’t want to accomplish anything.

That's funny. One of our fellow FReepers won a Republican congressional special election primary in IL-5 a couple months back. The Republican Party didn't lift a finger to help her.

Conversely, we did everything we could for her.

You're living in a fantasy world.

Your party is most certainly corrupted, that's for sure. Thanks for the admission.

Victory.

IF that is not the goal, in any Party, I want no part of that Party.

I am not involved to stroke my ego, to hear myself speak, or to listen to others speak.

I am involved to change things.

Third Parties do not care about victory, on any issues.

Third Parties are more interested in killing the Republican Party, with no concern about the Country, after the fact.

If you kill the Republican Party, the perception will be that you KILLED CONSERVATISM!

I agree that the GOP is not conservative ENOUGH, but that is NOT the message that the Dems and the MSM will pump out, if the GOP does not rebound!

The solution, the goal, MUST be to make the GOP even more Conservative.

Otherwise, you will fail.

I am against planned, egotistical, guaranteed failure.

On that issue, I will not negotiate.

You are pushing failure.

Only to the deluded.

"What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"

The solution, the goal, MUST be to make the GOP even more Conservative.

I don't care one whit whether the Republican Party disappears or survives. All I care about is whether the republic survives.

Exactly. I want a REAL conservative, opposition party. The Constitution Party is looking better and better to me everyday.

I think you are a bit confused.

How much “help” will any “Third Party” candidate get from the Republican Party?

ZERO!

Therefore, what have you solved?

I followed the Pullido race. I wish she had won, but NOBODY really expected her to win. That is a HEAVY Democrat District and you need to be realistic.

More to the point: NO POLITICAL PARTY WILL EVER SUPPORT ALL THE CANDIDATES YOU WANT IT TO SUPPORT -— there just isn't enough time, money or manpower, EVER, in any Party organization.

More to the point: Any candidate who DEPENDS on the RNC to win does not have much of a campaign!

The RNC and the Republican Congressional Committee looked at the facts. I do not even think Pullido managed to get ANY real TV advertising going. Pullido’s own website kind of sucked, after the Primary. She could have put together some YouTube type advertising, attacking her opponent, and she did not even do that. Pullido also could have bought some Cable TV advertising and some radio advertising, at VERY low cost. She failed to do that. (If she did do it, she should have posted it to her web page -— she did not do so!)

Again, I like Pullido, and I hope she learned from her experience and tries again. However, it is not fair to expect the National Republican organizations to waste money on inexperienced sacrificial lambs who do not know what they are doing, can can not raise any money on their own. Look, I ran for State Rep once, only to catch the sitting Republican State Rep, who was retiring, campaign door to door for my Democrat OPPONENT!

I know how it feels!

Likewise, I had NO financial help from my own Party, since the Party was in the hands of liberals, at the time.

I did not get some Don Quito nut job idea to start a “new party” -— Instead, several of us, in Kansas TOOK OVER the State GOP!

That is what I suggest you do.

We got DOZENS of people elected, after our take over.

Third Parties never elect any conservatives, they only help the Democrats win elections.

FReepers, including myself (along with others), founded AIP last year. We first looked at the CP, but couldn't reach an accommodation because we're Reagan 'Peace through Strength' conservatives on foreign policy and they align with Republican Ron Paul in that critical area.

you need to be realistic

Funny how they always say that when it comes to supporting conservatives.

Your Party is corrupted as well.

Hubris, Pride, Delusions of Grandeur

These are the traits of your Party.

I would prefer a Party that has a chance of success.

And the Republic will not survive without the Republican Party taking up the Conservative Ronald Reagan banner.

That is the hard truth.

Your Party will never win a single race, ever, anywhere.
