On his program of April 30, shortly after 9:35 AM EST, Glenn Beck slandered the heroic Catholic victim of 1930s Communism and the FDR smear machine, Fr. Charles E. Coughlin, as an "anti-semite," "Jew-baiter," "race-baiter," "a kook," etc., and as "okay with the extermination of Jews," and as believing "the ovens aren't that bad." Beck then went on to make other less-shocking, though equally baseless, characterizations of Coughlin's concept of "social justice."
Oh that Beck. He is a pistol at times.
But Coughlin DID support Hitler and Mussolini and was a flaming anti-semite...
Yup.

According to that link, Coughlin WAS an anti-Semite.
And until I read this article here, I never even HEARd of this guy ( Coughlin).
Coughlin was very bad news.

Slanders? So, you maintain that these are untrue accusations?
Coughlin supported Huey Long, and Mr. Weiss did this nation a great favor when he put a bullet into Huey. Coughlin didn’t think the New Deal went far enough. He truly was a National Socialist, with the emphasis on the Socialist part.
Beck is right on Coughlin.
According to Encyclopedia Brittanica, Beck is right. Fr. Coughlin was a lot of things, but always controversial.
I always thought that the truth was a defense against slander accusations. Beck did not say anything untrue as far as I know.
Coughlin was a vile kook.
Totally false. Produce ANY speech, article, or broadcast that supports that accusation.
There never were such utterances by Coughlin. The Reds in the Unions and the Reds in the FDR administration simply made up these accusations, because Coughlin was a lone voice preaching against FDR’s cozying up to Russia from 1933 on (NOT just in order to fight Hitler) and the influence of Stalinist Communists in Detroit and elsewhere in America. They hated Coughlin’s guts because he was an influential, respected, NON-Communist labor organizer in his own right.
Those accusations are completely false.
It is sinful to go around repeating slanders. Either you are merely repeating slanders you picked up in the gutter, or you know the truth and insist on repeating lies anyway.
There is reasonably good evidence that Weiss punched Long rather than shot him, and then Long’s bodyguards killed them both in a hail of lead.
Poor gun control, apparently.
Many think the Rev. Coughlin got the same treatment given to McCarthy.
Beck is a former junkie and a current nutbag. One day he will snap for sure. Too bad, seems like a nice guy.
