What about asking the unions for concessions? I see no mention of that option.

It's interesting that school districts may be reimbursed for the payroll tax. Goverment is good to government.

This is exactly the opposite of what the business sector needs right now. This will only result in more layoffs and LESS revenue, coupled with higher social costs to the government for welfare, unemployment insurance, medicaid, food stamps etc.

What they should be doing is CUTTING payroll taxes, which would provide some stimulus to struggling businesses, and also result in some job creation, which in turn would increase revenues.

Although this isn't surprising at all- it's typical backwards democrat thinking- what is surprising is that 4 Democrats actually oppose this payroll tax hike.

Burden the damn RIDERS of the MTA. It's wrong to force people who don't use a service to subsidize others. Leave it to a stupid liberal to engage in wealth redistribution to distort that transportation marketplace.

Well, let me tell you of the story of a man named Charley
on a tragic and fateful day.
He put ten cents in his pocket, kissed his wife and family, went to ride on the M.T.A.

Chorus:
Well, did he ever return? No, he never returned and
his fate is still unknown.

He may ride forever ‘neath the streets of NEW YORK. He’s the man who never returned!

Now, you citizens of NEW YORK, don’t you think it’s a scandal
how the people have to pay and pay?
Fight the fare increase! Vote for George O’Brien!
Get poor Charlie off the M. T. A.

Chorus:
Or else he’ll never return, No, he’ll never return and his fate is still unlearned.

He may ride forever ‘neath the streets of NEW YORK.
He’s the man who never returned. ...
