As media member after media member used Arlen Specter's defection to the Democrat Party Tuesday as an example of how conservatism in America is either dying or dead, a new poll found this to be wishful thinking.
In fact, in two of the key issues that have been largely divided along party lines for decades, namely abortion and gun control, a study released Thursday by the Pew Research Center showed the nation moving to the right on both.
Here were the surprising findings:
For the first time in a Pew Research survey, nearly as many people believe it is more important to protect the right of Americans to own guns (45%) than to control gun ownership (49%). As recently as a year ago, 58% said it was more important to control gun ownership while 37% said it was more important to protect the right to own guns. The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted March 31-April 21 among 1,521 adults reached on landlines and cell phones, also finds public opinion about abortion more closely divided than it has been in several years. Currently, 46% say abortion should be legal in most cases (28%) or all cases (18%); 44% believe that abortion should be illegal in most (28%) or all cases (16%). Since the mid-1990s, majorities have consistently favored legal abortion, with the exception of an August 2001 survey by ABC News/Washington Post.
The proportion saying that abortion should be legal in all or most cases has declined to 46% from 54% last August.
Doesn't quite fit the picture media are painting about America, does it?
Coincidentally, conservative news outlets, talk radio shows and pundits are hitting record highs, while the liberal MSM ratings, viewership, readership, ad sales and profits are dropping like a rock.
love it
I’m the biggest Ann Coulter fan and think she’s beautiful, but isn’t she getting just a little too skinny? She’s looking borderline anorexic.
Interesting, thanks.
My hubby would say so. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but he likes a more comfortable ride like a “cadillac” than a streamlined “sports model”. OMG, he would KILL me if he knew I told!
Anymore, "right" needs to be defined (and ASAP) to show some meat to demand some sought after respect.
At the least politically the right needs to.
A couple of bacon cheeseburgers and an extra thick milkshake wouldn’t hurt her. ;)

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
roe vs wade will be Overturned!!!!!!!1
No hit on El Rushbo, but being in the same photo with him would make a lot of women look skinny.
Still, I wish Lady Ann would indulge a cheeseburger at least once in a while.
But the gist of the article is right: Newsweek was dead wrong when it trumpeted “WE ARE ALL SOCIALISTS NOW!!”
“Not bloody likely, mate.”
This is bound to happen as we educate the masses one at a time. Abortion is murder, and I think posting and displaying pictures has really really helped this cause.
Guns are a no brainer. A few quick quotes from the founding fathers along with asking them if they plan to ban any number of things also used for murder(baseball bats, kitchen knives, matches, rope, pillows, water, etc- it really drives the guns don’t kill people, people kill people message home) leaves them scratching their heads. Always follow up by asking if they think we are becoming a nation of bubblewrapped idiots.
She is so skinny you can smell her crap through her skin!
She does have a great mind, so I’m all for her being who she wants to be!
yeah, Ann could use an exercise regimen and a few Whoppers with fries and chocolate milk shakes.
Heh. I think that 9 out of 10 men feel the same way as your husband. I like curves, not the skin and bones that all the girls at the fundraiser envy.
She is a little too thin. But contrarily speaking, Miss California sure wears her thinness well.
My doubts have nothing to do with my conservative Christian viewpoint, moral standards, or political convictions. It's just that I have always found it very difficult to believe that a compilation of the views and/or beliefs of 1500 people is adequate to accurately represent those of 300,000,000 passionately opinionated Americans on any subject.
Well, I wish all this had been reflected in the vote LAST NOVEMBER. A fat lot of good it’s doing anybody now.
I would sure hate to have to run from her though!
She must be lightning fast!
LOL!
