George Skelton From Sacramento -- The swine flu scare may be hype. Maybe not. Either way, it's reassuring to know that hospital emergency rooms and community clinics are treating anyone who's sick, including illegal immigrants.
"Swine flu knows no borders," notes Carmela Castellano-Garcia, chief executive of the California Primary Care Assn., an organization of roughly 700 clinics. "It pays no regard to income or immigration status."
Hardly a day goes by that I don't receive at least one e-mail from someone complaining about tax dollars "wasted" on illegal immigrants.
Here's an excerpt on Friday from Dink: "Thanks to your 'buddy' Arnold, I'm paying more taxes so that illegal immigrants can use the nearest emergency room as their primary doctor's office. . . . "

And Mexico deserves to be sent the bill.
Saw it coming.
But this is no different than anything else.
Illegals get treatment in ERs for all manner of things.
Yes, in Mexico or other country of origin. ;-)
I’m sorry, but I can barely afford to take care of myself. I paid into SS for 45 years to get what little I get now, and I don’t think I should have to share it with an illegal border jumper.
I have seen it firsthand a year ago. My GF is a nurse at hospital in Sylmar and there are posters everywhere stating that “you will be treated regardless of status in the US”.
This person is not very smart, but he sure is a bleed-heart liberal. What the heck does the word deserve mean?
transitive verb : to be worthy of : merit deserves another chance
intransitive verb : to be worthy, fit, or suitable for some reward or requital
Well I guess I must now look up worthy.
1 a: having worth or value : estimable b: honorable, meritorious
2: having sufficient worth or importance
So just how in the world can illegal immigrants be considered worthy? They seem to fail the "Honorable" test and they don't seem to be rich.
Words no longer have meaning to the news gatherers. Just use a big word and hope nobody notices how stupid the author is.
Let them find it in Mexico.
Did the fine print read "This excludes U.S. Citizens who don't have an insurance card and/or can't meet the co-pay"?
If not, it should, because that is exactly what happens.
Most of the Mexicans I know of in Mexifornia go through the “infamous” program called ORSA. As long as you show you cannot pay the govt, they will issue a card which is good for a year. The ORSA clerk, like the good samaritan tells the illegal, you must call us once you get a job, or “can pay” the bill. We all know what honesty is nowadays, right?
So if I tell them I’m a Canuck, I can get this for free too?

Illegals do deserve medical treatment and should return to Mexico for their “free” socialist medicine. (The same “Universal” “Health Care” many of you will soon have.) Where will everyone run to for good care when the government takes the incentive out of free market medicine? Liberalism is a suicidal mental disorder.
Any illegal deserves medical attention as they are cuffed and stuffed into the ICE bus for the ride back to their side !
I expect no less were I to be caught in Mexico or Canookistan etc illegally ........they want to play the game learn how to be good losers.
That's what I don't understand. Why do I have to document who I am and show that I am insured but they don't? It's like there are two parallel sets of rules, the more stringent ones being for actual U.S. citizens. It used to be that way with buying a home, but I presume that has changed a bit now.
Illegal Alien Insurgent Criminal Invading Colonists go to the Emergency Room for everything medical.
One of them has a cold, it costs you and me a couple of hundred dollars.
They have to sneak around to get treated, so they can't have a regular doctor.
Hospitals collect an average of 8% of deadbeat users of the service, and we pay the rest.
Except for the hospitals that close because of our "generosity."
LOL@ "Swine flu knows no borders."
Too bad we don't control our borders, then it would.
Like another poster said, send the bill to Mexico. Like that will happen.
BWAHAHA, sure he is.
Medical care is not enough, give them California as well.
No, wait, they already have that. Give them amnesty. That will please the compassionate and bleeding heart conservative crowd.
Since they brought it over, they should pay for it.
