Another comic great has died. Dom DeLuise passed away at a Los Angeles hospital around 6:00 PM Monday, reports TMZ.

A film and TV staple since the mid-1960's, DeLuise was an expert foil for other performers, including Dean Martin, Mel Brooks (in six of his films) and Burt Reynolds, with whom he starred in the "Cannonball Run" flicks. In 1980, he played the lead in "Fatso," a film written and directed by Anne Bancroft, the late wife of Mel Brooks.

A noted gourmand, DeLuise authored two books of his Italian recipes, and wrote several children's books. He voiced numerous characters in animated films and television.

DeLuise is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Arthur, three sons, Peter, Michael and David, and three grandchildren.

He was great. The bloopers from movies he did with Burt Reynolds could have been a sit com in themselves.

I think one of his sons was a wrter or director as well as a minor carachter on the Stargate SG1 series for a while. Now Peter(?) has a show on Nicklodeon.

My sides would ache from laughing so hard at his shows on TV—especially with Dean Martin and company.

A gifted comic, a sensitive man with a full heart, and a great chef.

A full 75 years. Thank you for the gift of many laughs,Dom.

If you listen closely, you’ll hear Heaven ringing with laughter.

Very sad. I will make a recipe from his cookbook this week in memory of a great and funny man.

"Why don't we all drink some a-very sexy wi-i-i-ine!"

I forgot about his ridiculous role in that very funny movie. To think that Leo McKern was in that as well! God rest 'em all.

The "fat man" in American comedy is a standard.

Dom was one of the best.

He did gentle comedy. Poking fun at situations and people, but always with a warmth as two friends would do with each other.

His style and humor lives on in his work.

There are probably a number of clips of Dom from his appearances on the Dean Martin celebrity roasts.

After a show in Warren, Ohio in the early 70’s, I was a personal witness to this zany guy’s antics when he had a little firewater in him. He stopped at the local Duncan Donuts after his show and began to dismantle the place. He threw donuts everywhere. The customers were in absolute stitches. He kept a constant patter going the whole time.

I also recall him on a talk show (might have been Larry King or Public TV) where he was sipping from a styrofoam cup and slurring his words and losing his place.

Some kinda guy. Seemed to really enjoy his life.

A funny, funny man. I'm grateful for all the laughs he gave me over the years. The first movie to pop into my head was Brooks' The Twelve Chairs. I don't think my daughter has ever seen it. I'll have to rent it for her and introduce her to a real talent. That would be a fitting salute.

Saw him in a play once. He spoke to the audience after. A very real, genuine and funny man. He will be missed.
