Mr. Song Millinery on Woodward Avenue in Detroit has struck a sour note with Aretha Franklin. It was her inaugural hat that caused a flood of orders from around the world. And now, the Queen of Soul wants royal treatment from store owner Luke Song for wearing it.
"I think that I should be getting big time royalties from him. That's what I think," said Franklin in an interview with WWJ's Vickie Thomas at Sunday's NAACP Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner.

NAACP racism dinner. I always liked James Brown. He was once asked if he was angry at whites for ripping off his music (Mick Jagger perhaps?).
James, the hardest working man in show business, said no. He basically said white kids were the only ones buying his records through his lean years when his popularity waned.
Frankly, I don’t think she has a chance in hell of getting royalties unless she entered into some kind of contract with him.
That thing on her head looked like a flower pot with a bow. Kind of reminded me of that I Love Lucy show where they put buckets on their heads at a Paris fashion show and they became of the rage of Paris.
Some people have no taste — can’t sing either.
I agree with that he kinda popped at the end though.
I would rather buy her hats, than have to feed her.

Reminds me of the King family asking for royalties on everything with MLK’s image at the inauguration.

Hey,in her defense....in this country it's usually true that a person of,say,60 weighs at least 50% more than they did at 20.When I got out of BCT (40 years ago) I was 165 pounds.Today,one of my legs weighs 165.
Hey,in her day Aretha most assuredly *could* sing.
