Agreed. Letting another Bush assume prominence in the GOP is just a quick way to make Obama a two-term President.

Well..., by your reasoning, we shouldn’t expect today’s kids to respond well to our Founding Fathers beliefs either. Right?

Sorry, it doesn’t take new rhetoric to sell reasoned ideals.

You herald the men who gave you a free ride, or get off and walk. No thanks.

The young people aren't going to respond to the word “Reagan” as much as has been done”

They are going to respond even less to the word “Bush”, which is mud amongst Democrats, and thanks to George Bush and his amnesty and free spending ways, is becoming worth less and less amongst even Repbulicans as well.
I suggest Jeb Bush advise himself and take the Bushes the heck out of the way. For a guy who comes from a familly, that has just decimated the Republican Party after 8 years, to suggest that we forget one of the main icons of the Repiblican party, who's name brings out the base to vote more than anyone else, is simply laughable.

What I said was that “George W seemed to really get the Reagan legacy and respect it.” This is true. He had tremendous respect for Reagan and he understood why Reagan was beloved. I also noted that he wasn’t a follower of it. No need to get bombastic about it.

Both Bushes had somewhat decent foreign policies but their domestic policies were PATHETIC.

They allowed the domestic agenda to be driven by the leftist Democrats and never spent a joule of energy defending any part of their domestic policy initiatives (when they even had them).

The Bushes exuded the blue-blood Rockefeller traits of the well-to-do and, IMHO, thought it beneath them to pursue any coherent conservative domestic policy. Their money and status would protect them so screw everyone else.

I am sure Reagan regretted ever making the ole man the VP.

About the only mistake the great man ever made, IMO. If "Read My Lips" had never been VeeP we wouldn't have had either Clinton or "0" to worry us...Republicans such as Palin would have ruled the day instead of "Read My Lips" and "Heckuva Job Brownie". I suspect we'd be enjoying a 25,000 DJIA on the NYSE with the NASDAQ hitting somewhere around 15,000 about now. Plus, Saddam would have been done and gone in the first Gulf War and gasoline would be hovering around $1.25 at the pump because of the billions of barrels coming out of Anwar.

Jeb's grand-pappy, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan's Vice President.

first off, he is Jeb's father, not grandfather......and second, what Jeb said was a good point. We need a new, younger version of Reagan to lead us. We cannot hold up an aged deceased Reagan image and hope to draw young voters.

The fact that hussein ran on being the new fdr and invoking kennedy’s name at every instance... and talking about Reagan at every opportunity... disproves your theory. Educate America with what Reaganism is... and get out of the way!

Hey Jeb:

I don ‘t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, “We must broaden the base of our party”—when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.

It was a feeling that there was not a sufficient difference now between the parties that kept a majority of the voters away from the polls. When have we ever advocated a closed-door policy? Who has ever been barred from participating?

Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?

I feel their foreign policies were worse..."Read My Lips" Bush somehow figured out a way to pull a complete stalemate out of a magnificant overwhelming victory on the "Highway of Death" during Gulf War I. He let Saddam go completely scott free when our troops could have marched straight into Bagdad a decade before they did. Likewise, "Mission Accomplished" Bush waited until "It luks lak we tuk a thumpin'" to employ the surge that was urged on him two years prior by the military to finally begin winning the war "Read My Lips" Bush began.

I think it’s a great idea to educate the American public, but you’re never going to be able to make your voice heard in the current media climate. The only reason Bambi mentioned Reagan was because the Republicans kept invoking him and Bambi’s handlers thought this was a good preemptive move because some fools actually thought he was a “centrist” and that was supposed to lull the old-line GOP voters.

But Reagan as a war-cry simply isn’t going to work for most voters. He’s not coming back and we have to find a new war cry. Reagan’s principles are timeless, and we should chose our war cry from them.

No chance of another “President Bush”. To the left, “Bush” is the same as Hitler. To the right, it mean’s RINO, new world order, prescrition drugs, runaway spending, prosecute the troops and Border Patrol BS.

Maybe its not fair, maybe its not rational, but that the way it is. Ill never vote for another Bush. We have moved on.

I once had high hopes that W would be further removed from his fathers philosophy than he turned out to be. It was Bush 41 who first caused me to begin doubting and questioning the GOP. The statement "new world order" sent a chill down my spine, and his lack of committment to the 2nd amendment sealed the impression. I really hoped that more of Texas had rubbed off on W, and wiped liberal Connecticut away.

There just wasn't enough Texas to be found.

When he says nostalgia of the past. He certainly don’t mean Bush 1 and Bush 2

Wrong. In fact, I think the fathers need to be taught much more in school.

Problem is, in today's GOP Reagan is cited far more than Washington or Adams. Far more.

If you read my above post, you would have seen that I DO believe Reagan needs to be continued taught as a hero, along with others. However, there needs to be new ideas presented to the young for this new age.

I didn't make any statement about the word "Bush" being used more.

However, I don't think he's Satan. And I believe he's right that fresh ideas need to be presented to the younger generation.
