Ron Paul is Ralph Nader's gay lover.

Gay lover? You sure like to take the high road, don't you?

So is human Rights. They still don't have any...

That whole "carrot and stick" of essentially giving the Chi-Coms trillions of dollars in manufacturing sure showed them...

Chi “Coms”? Do you really believe that they are communists anymore? You are stuck in a 1960s time warp apparently. Face it, Mainland China is now far closer to Chiang’s vision that it is Mao’s.

I guess it depends on where you are getting your info from. But yeah, they are still operating under a system of centralized control over the means of production, have human Rights policies that would even make a Berkely resident upset, and have zero intention of changing anything from what I’ve seen over the last ten years.

Centralized means of production? Maybe that was true in 1985. Even the state industries are quasi capitalistic. China is authoritarian but so are a lot of places. Heck, as we speak, Christian converts are under threat of the death penality in Afghanistan....and nobody particularly cares. The Chinese, for all their faults, don’t do that!

Even the state industries are quasi capitalistic.

There were articles here over the past or so about the Communist Party stripping those same corporations of all profit to help feed the government.

Sorry, but that is not "progress".

He's for open borders (after cutting the welfare incentives that draw illegals here...yeah, right).

What???? That's simply not true. He wants a border fence, he questions birthright citizenship.

Not sure where you came up with that allegation, but it's BS.

"Every time someone asks him (Ron Paul) about abortion, his eyes glaze over and starts babbling about "less government"."

Also BS.

"Abortion is murder"

"A popular academic argument for abortion demands that we think of the child in the womb as a parasite, but the same argument justifies infanticide, since it applies just as well to an infant outside the womb.newborns require even more attention & care."

People ask an expectant mother how her baby is doing. They do not ask how her fetus is doing, or her blob of tissue, or her parasite. But that is what her baby becomes as soon as the child is declared to be unwanted."

Source: The Revolution: A Manifesto, by Ron Paul, p. 59-60Apr 1, 2008

"Protecting the life of the unborn is protecting liberty"

"Liberty is the most important thing, because if we have our liberties, we have our freedoms, we can have our lives. But it’s academic to talk about civil liberties if you don’t talk about the true protection of all life. So if you’re going to protect liberty, you have to protect the life of the unborn just as well. I have a bill in Congress which I would certainly promote and push as President. But it’s been ignored by the right-to-life community. My bill is called the Sanctity of Life bill. What it would do is it would establish the principle that life begins at conception. That’s not a political statement, but a scientific statement that I’m making. We’re all interested in a better court system, and amending the Constitution to protect life--but sometimes that is dismissing the way we can handle this much quicker. My bill removes the jurisdiction of the federal courts from the issue of abortion. If a state law says “no abortion,” it doesn’t go to the Supreme Court to be ruled out of order." Shall I keep going?

I “came up with it” from his many interviews during the campaign and it used to be on his web site. It’s amazing the things his supporters are ignorant of. If he now says he’s for the border fence, that’s new which proves what a phony he is.

I listened to many of the interviews during that period, and the wealth of position papers on his websites and NEVER came up with anything close to what you have stated he said.

I am a support of RP's ideas of a return to Constitutionalism, abortion as anti-freedom, small government, etc., not necessarily a support of RP, personally.

But it is amazing to me the lengths that RP detractors will go to in order to slime, slander him and put words in his mouth that he never said. Don't like RP's ideas? Fine. Argue that. But lying about him is just BS. It's "bearing false witness" and it is just flat-out destructive to all concerned.

The facts are that Ron Paul didn’t have much to say about border security, illegal aliens except this, from your link
“Finally, meaningful immigration reform can only take place when we end the welfare state. “

That was his position for years. Only recently has he even suggested more border security. You can’t find one time that Paul actually sponsored or cosponsored any thing for border security except for that typical ‘no welfare’ line. He’s never bothered to address just how he would ‘end welfare’, because he knows it can’t be done.

His vote for MFN for China was another boneheaded move.
Look, I was posting articles by Ron Paul 10 years ago when no one else had heard of him. He has a lot worth listening to. Border security was never one of his strong suits.

Did you know there was a big amnesty in 2002? Ron voted FOR it.

URL Source: http://NumberUSA
Published: Oct 29, 2007
Author: Excerpted from : http://www.federalobser

Paul’s Immigration Voting Record & Report Card on the NumbersUSA website:

(1) Paul consistently voted every year since 1999 against putting the military on the border:

2006: H. Amdt. 206 to H.R. 1815 2004: Goode Amendment to H.R. 4200 2003: Goode Amendment to H.R. 1588 2002: H. Amdt. 479 to H.R. 4546 2001: Traficant amendment to HR 2586 2000: Traficant amendment to H.R.4205 1999: Trafficant Amendment to H.R. 1401.

(2) Paul voted in 1997, 2001( H.R. 1885) and 2002 (H RES 365) to grant, extend or continue Section 245-i amnesties for illegal aliens.

(3) Paul voted NO on extending the voluntary Basic Pilot Workplace Verification Program (H.R. 2359),

(4) Paul voted NO on the border fence in 2005 (Hunter Amendment to HR 4437 - “Enforcement Only” Bill).

(5) Paul voted YES to increase H2-B (HR 763 in 2005) and H-1B visas (HR 3736 in 1998). In 1998, he voted to allow US firms to lay off Americans to replace them with foreigners.
TAKE NOTE:

(2) Paul voted in 1997, 2001( H.R. 1885) and 2002 (H RES 365) to grant, extend or continue Section 245-i amnesties for illegal aliens.

Everyone needs a reminder of some of Pauls BAD immigration votes.

Especially Item #2. This was an amnesty and allowed for chain migration, more visas, blah, blah, and one reason it has gotten as bad as it has. It was pushed by the White House.

H.R.3525 Title: To enhance the border security of the United States, and for other purposes. (introduced 12/19/2001) Related Bills: H.RES.365, H.R.1885, H.R.3205, S.CON.RES.106, S.1618, S.1749 Latest Major Action: Became Public Law No: 107-173 [GPO: Text, PDF] Note: On 3/12/2002, H.Res. 365 was agreed to by the House. H.Res. 365 incorporated the text of H.R. 3525, the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act, in H.R. 1885, previously the Section 245(i) Extension Act dealing with certain immigration petition filing deadlines. Subsequent action on border security returned to H.R. 3525.

http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d107:HR03525:

The White House [snip]

H.R. 1885 - Section 245(i) Extension Act The Administration strongly supports House passage of H.R.1885 as expected to be considered on the House floor. H.R. 1885 would extend the window created under section 245(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act during which qualified immigrants may obtain legal residence in the United States without being forced to first leave the country and their families for as long as several years. This legislation reflects the Administration’s philosophy that government policies should recognize the importance of families and help to strengthen them.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/legislative/sap/107-2/HR1885-h.html

also:

Rep. Paul is a cosponsor of H.R. 793, the Save Our Small and Seasonal Business Act of 2005, to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to limit the timing of issuance of H-2B visas during a fiscal year. Specifically, H.R. 793 would split the H-2B visa cap so no more than 33,000 visas are made available for the first six months the fiscal year, and another 33,000 visas would be available in the second half of the year. However, H.R. 793 exempts from the annual cap aliens granted an H-2B visa within three years prior to approval of an H-2B petition, thus potentially TRIPLING the number of H-2B workers in the United States at any one time. Although timing the issuance of H-2B visas is a common-sense approach that would help prevent the situation that occurred in FY 2004 and FY 2005 when the 66,000 annual cap on H-2B (low-skill) nonimmigrant visas was hit within the first quarter of the year, H.R. 793 would ultimately harm American workers by creating exemptions which potentially could triple the number of H-2B workers in the U.S. at any given time. Nearly doubled H-1B foreign high-tech workers in 1998

and

Voted on House floor against Hunter amendment to increase security with border fence in 2005 Rep. Paul voted against the Hunter Amendment to H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005. The Hunter Amendment would shore up security by building fences and other physical infrastructure to keep out illegal aliens. Specifically, it mandates the construction of specific security fencing, including lights and cameras, along the Southwest border for the purposes of gaining operational control of the border. As well, it includes a requirement for the Secretary of Homeland Security to conduct a study on the use of physical barriers along the Northern border. The Hunter Amendment passed by a vote of 260-159.

To be fair:

You are only posting part of his record.

For a good source on grades on illegal immigration see:

http://grades.betterimmigration.com/

They also have a very good history of votes for all politicians.

Of course, I would prefer an A+ from all Republicans. Ron Paul has a B. John McCain, who I still can’t believe was our candidate [I am and have been a local Republican Precinct Chair], received a D!

And which part of those votes do you not understand?

AuntB, many of your links are broken and the one that I was able to follow, was an editorial.

I know that RP is against using our military at the border, so that's a non-argument between us. I don't disagree on that, because to use our military for that during peace time is isn't the best idea -- a military during peace time that can keep them out, could also be used to keep us in!

I tried looking up H.R. 1885 for 1997, and came up with a resolution to clear Harry Mudd's name -- clearly not the bill you are talking about so I have no idea what happened there.

This link is a pretty good comprehensive assessment of RP's record and views.

Like I said before, it isn't RP personally that I am a fan of, it's his message. But I've seen so much truly untrue things written about him, that I am skeptical when I see slams on issues that I know aren't true.

“If he now says he’s for the border fence, that’s new which proves what a phony he is.”

I wonder, Deb, who’s the phony? Ron Paul, who’s got a record of opposing illegal immigration, trying to stop the anchor baby problem, and generally standing up for the Constitution...or...hmmm...someone who’s posted that they would rush to vote for Rudy Giuliani and leaps to defend Dubya’s record on immigration?

I guess it must be that lying loony Ron Paul that’s the phony here. /s
