San Francisco Educators Hail Jimi Hendrix As Role Model for Teachers

Is the San Francisco school district in a purple haze? Because they have chosen one unusual role model to grace the cover of their new education guide, and some residents are questioning whether the decision is a good message to send to the city's youth. On the cover of the new district guidebook – aimed at changing the educational “experiences for every child in each of our schools” – is a portrait of 1960s rock legend Jimi Hendrix, known as much for his fatal drug habit as his revolutionary take on rock music. The district's manifesto asks readers to remember “the first time you heard Jimi Hendrix,” before proclaiming “our plan is as transformational now as his music was then," according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

I just can’t WAIT until the ‘60s generation is out of power and drooling in nursing homes.

Hey, let's take what we can get. Jimi Hendrix was a conservative.

Jimi was that great during the period...simply because there was no competition for his style of music. If he had come along seven years later...he would have been just another average name of the era. As for a role model...I’m wondering what role teachers intend to press onto kids? Doped-up guy with no interest in life beyond his music...no family connection....and guy who had no real ambitions beyond just playing music?

Hendrix is a great role model for all Leftists.

That they should choke on their own vomit.

They will, figuratively speaking, when their socialist dystopia implodes on them.

As a guitarist, I even find it hard to use Hendrix as a role model.

He played out of tune most of the time, and was too baked to know it.

I was influenced by Hendrix via Robin Trower.

Well, it’s better than choking to death on somebody else’s vomit.

My sentiments also.

Maybe they think this is the BEST kids can aspire to be.

BTW, is Hendrix Hispanic? That might enter into it also. Jimmy was destined for destruction. No one cared about him. Maybe that's the other subliminal message these idiots are sending?

Notice the “heroes” liberals appoint for blacks. They too are everything you would NOT want your kids to aspire to. Take MLK, an EXTREME womanizer, a HUMANIST and a plagiarizer. Compare him to Alan Keyes. Alan Keyes gets vilified.

Let this be so!

All the SanFranSissyCo teachers can inject heroin into their temple and choke on puke.

Any chance this could be a national NEA program?

Heck at the rate Obama is going with health care ... they won't be in homes. They'll be six foot under. Euthanasia will step in. Liberals are making kids narcissistic, selfish little cretins. It's the conservatives that are not doing this. So kids of liberals have MUCH TO FEAR.

So future teachers are to play guitar, sing, shoot drugs, and bang up chicks. No wonder kids are so dumb.

Well, there IS something to Hendrix to celebrate:

*He was a member of the 101st airborne, which he called "the greatest outfit in the world."

*He defended the U.S. involvement in Europe to European journalists as late as 1968, saying, "Did you send the Americans away when they landed in Normandy? No, but then that was concerning your own skin. The Americans are fighting in Vietnam for the whole world. . . .Of course, war is horrible, but at present, it's still the only way to maintain peace."

And, he had the rather stunning lyrics I quote in my tag line that are appropriate today.

I like Jimi but it’s kind of weird to call him a teacher.
