A Greek court annulled Greece's only two same-sex marriages, officials said Tuesday, following a furious backlash against the ceremonies from the government and religious leaders.
The two couples - one male, one female - exploited a loophole in a 26-year-old law that did not specify gender in civil weddings, and were married in June last year by the mayor of the small Aegean Sea island of Tilos.
The ceremonies drew the wrath of the powerful Orthodox Church of Greece, with one conservative bishop denouncing them as weddings of "humanoid couples."
The government immediately declared the marriages illegal and invalid and a prosecutor tabled a suit at the nearby island of Rhodes seeking to annul the marriages.
The Rhodes court issued its ruling late Monday doing that. It was expected to give its reasons later this month.

We could use some judges like that in Massachusetts.
Greece is more righteous than we are!
My! How things change in 3000 years. Alexander and Hephastion are sad.
You mean Greece doesn’t issue a license to engage in Greek love? Who knew?
Even the ancient Greeks never codified gay marriage.
Thats true yet same sex unions were accepted and in some cases such as with Sparta encouraged. A person will fight harder with a lover at their side.
I believe that bit of Gay Mafia propaganda has been disproved and debunked.
“Encouraged”?????But.....but.....but.....I thought they were BORN that way.........
Disproved and debunked? By whom? Some revisionist I suppose. Although hardly my best choice for authoritative opinion I suggest the folowing link which provides many sources for confirmation of my postulation about the Greeks.

And anybody can contibute to Wikipedia, including those with a homosexual revisionist agenda. They'd have you believe there wasn't a notable figure in history who wasn't "gay".
For myself, I’ll take the words of Aristotle, Plato, Phaedrus, Plutarch, Athenaeus, Aristophanes and Xenophon even with a bit of salt, (they all had their own axes to grind) over the biased utturances of contemporary ‘historians.
Though that was still not “marriage” in the societal sense. The ancient Greeks were evidently forward looking enough to check what would otherwise have wrecked their society before it’s time.
