H.R. 2324--Aiming At Registering Gun Owners And Putting Gun Shows Out Of Business

Friday, May 08, 2009

On May 6, at a press conference with Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign, U.S. Representatives Michael Castle (R-Del.) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 2324--the "Gun Show Loophole Closing Act."  Masquerading as reform, H.R. 2324 would impose severe bureaucratic restrictions aimed at shutting down gun shows.

The bill is essentially a re-introduction of the failed H.R. 96, introduced in the 110th Congress.  Despite changes from the Lautenberg juvenile justice amendment of 1999, on which the measure is based, H.R. 2324 fails to address gun owners' most significant concerns.  In several areas it is even more restrictive than past attempts to regulate gun shows. H.R. 2324 would create gun owner registration, massive new government red tape, and allow harassment of gun show organizers, vendors and attendees.  The bill also ignores a glaring problem--multiple government studies prove gun shows are not a source of "crime guns."

Anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) introduced a companion bill (S. 843) in the U.S. Senate in late April. Please be sure to contact your U.S. Representative and urge him or her to strongly oppose H.R. 2324; and please be sure to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to strongly oppose S. 843!  You can call your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121, and your U.S. Senators at (202) 224-3121.

I love Sportsmans Guide. I’ve been a member for about 6 months. I noticed that deal on 7.62X25 Tokarev and was wondering which pistols fired it. Thanks for the info.

If you don't own at least several hundred rounds for every .223 or .30 caliber firearm you own you haven't been paying any attention at all. ________

Let me fix that: If you don't own at least several THOUSAND rounds for every .223 or .30 caliber firearm you own you haven't been paying any attention at all.

1.5 billion rounds have been purchased by citizens since November 2008... keep pushing rats!
_______________
How many reloads? Add those and probably at least triple the 1.5 billion. Then add what people already had. That would mean maybe 8-10 billion at least. That’s a lot of rounds per person. You wouldn’t even have to be a good shot. LOL

>>Downsides are brittle firing pins (buy a spare, and don’t dry fire) and a decocking function that you should not trust.

Your public safety announcement is a joke, right? There are lots of guns out there that don’t have these kinds of dangerous “downsides”.
_______________________
for that price? Name them. Replace the firing pin, don’t use the de-cocking function. You can check it by putting pencil in the barrel. Take one of these to the range, it will get everyone’s attention and they will all want one.
Mcgee isn’t saying that is the best gun out there. Some people want one, times are tough and this is an affordable, powerhouse pistol and the ammo is dirt cheap and available. Try to find .45, .380 .38sp even .22LR is scarce but you can easily get 10-20 rounds of the ammo for the CZ-52 and it won’t set you back much.

You forgot to include the 10$ necessary for the purchase of EAR PROTECTION. CZ52’s are louder than some high powered rifles.

I guess I’m a gun snob. It is a good gun for the money (if that $200 price is still accurate. They are $375 here.) and the ammo is still available in bulk (I just checked—it is!), but when someone tells me to avoid using a safety feature, I get nervous.

If I check every day, I can still get 9mm and 45 at Wal-Mart twice a week.

The loophole they are trying to close is kept open by the 2nd Amendment.

Good point. I used the 9x19 mm Makarov as my back-up weapon for years.

But maybe they’ll get far enough to galvanize lovers of freedom to fire them next year, thus castrating Obama.
