CA: Governor May Free 38,000 Inmates To Ease Budget (More scare tactics)
CBS 5 ^ | May 8, 2009 | CrimeWatch

SACRAMENTO (CBS 5) ― Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that thousands of inmates could be forced out of state prisons if his proposed ballot measures fail in the upcoming special election.

Schwarzenegger said he will open prison doors if voters don't approve the measures to close a projected $6 billion budget hole during the May 19th vote.

... The governor's plan would release 38,000 inmates, 19,000 of those are what the state considers low risk. The other 19,000 inmates are illegal immigrants whose offenses are said to be non-serious. The governor would commute their sentences and release all of them to federal immigration authorities.

... Raising those fears may be the idea behind the governor's warning. The threat of turning inmates loose may be so frightening that it may spur voters to approve the measures.

In my part of the world, it might spur the voters to a hanging.
He might want to think twice.

Get ready for a major crime spree in California.

I assume you mean the $3 Billion in stem cell research ($6 billion if you include interest on the bonds)

Nope — can’t touch any of that. The authors of the bill made sure that no one could ever take back that pledge. The fine-print even forbids voters from reversing it, along with a whole slew of other outrageous terms. Kiss that $6 billion goodbye.

There are certain situations where public lynchings seem appropriate.

Of course, I’m not saying this is one of them... (hear that Napolitano?)

“Arnie is spreading pure, unadulterated, deliberate scare-tactic lies to sell new taxes”

Did anyone see him on TV re Santa Barbara fires....”fire fighters will also have to laid off”...another scare tactic. What a jerk.

I think I read there is a recall out for him now.

Arnold has no shame I hope these scare tactics boomerang big time. I hear there is a recall movement getting under way. The problem is that who ever took his place would be a liberal just like him.

Thank you - If the elected officials are going to actively act in a manner that clearly, openly, and directly threatens the Commonweal, and those people who are also entrusted with the enforcement of law and order are so corrupt as to be complicit in such an open endangerment of the lives of our citizens for gross political gain, then there is no illegality in such an act.

Quite the contrary, we would be remiss in our duty if we allowed such criminal activity to continue to be done under the color of the authority of the State itself.

If I recall, Tom McClintock is still available as he was during the election of Arnie.

My circle of friends are so fed up they’ll vote against anything and everything government or unions support. There isn’t even a need to read the legislation.

California needs to file for bankruptcy, restructure and let the chips fall where they will.

Why isn’t the Rev Moonbeam Brown, our friggin Attorney General wading into this with both guns blazing? As the primary legal protector of his constituents, doesn’t he have an OBLIGATION to fight against any ruling that would put the law abiding populace in harm’s way?

If they are in prison, they are convicted felons. Jails are employed for prisoners held under 1 year. Dumping 38,000 convicted felons on the street is just brilliant. It's hard for people with good skills and no criminal history to find work. Convicted felons aren't likely to find employment. What will they do? What do criminals do to make money? More crime?
