Limbaugh avoids Sykes catfight
The Washington Times ^ | May 11, 2009 | Joseph Weber

Posted on 05/11/2009 4:05:08 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh took the high road Monday following Wanda Sykes saying he is a terrorist and making other acerbic comments about him during a comedic routine at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner over the weekend.

Talk-radio fans and political junkies buzzed in anticipation about what Mr. Limbaugh might say on his national, three-hour radio show.

Instead of retaliating against Ms. Sykes, Mr. Limbaugh spent much of the show praising former Vice President Dick Cheney, who on Sunday was much kinder.

"What motivates Dick Cheney," Mr. Limbaugh asked rhetorically numerous times during his show. "He has all the millions he needs. He doesn't want to run for election. He's not hot for interns. He is not a torture freak."

Mr. Limbaugh eventually said Mr. Cheney continues to open himself to attacks by the liberal "drive-by media" because he is an American who speaks from his heart.

Mr. Cheney said Sunday on "Face the Nation" that Limbaugh is more representative of the Republican Party than former Secretary of State Colin Powell, whom he presumed left the party when supporting Barack Obama in the presidential race.

Ms. Sykes' comments about Mr. Limbaugh while hosting the annual Washington event Saturday night drew a mix of laughter and boos.

"Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails," Ms. Sykes said. "He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason. He's not saying anything different than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin, he missed his flight. … Rush Limbaugh, 'I hope the country fails,' I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs."

Who in the heck is Wanda Sykes?

What a loser...

Ignoring Sykes is just common sense. Why give publicity to a virtual unknown, who is an enemy, has no news value on her own, and btw has no redeeming social significance? That isn't "wussing out," that's smart strategery. Taking the bait is stupid and a sure way to get hooked.

Good move, that diesel dyke isn’t worth one second of Rush’s time.

He is no better than you or I.

He is a better radio man than you or I.

"Me." "No better than... me." Both of you guys flunk fourth grade grammar. What a joke.

If I were Rush I would have simply said; “Wanda Sykes God bless your heart. I really hope he does.”

My reply to the requests for a response about Sykes would have been....

What did you expect from her??!!

Then change the subject.

My wife and I went to an investment conference last summer and she was the comedy headliner for the evening entertainment. I had seen her on a couple of TV shows and thought she might be moderately funny. It took her about 2 minutes to get into Bush-hating and in-your-face Dyke comedy. We got up and left. The earlier acts, who were people who worked at the investing company trying their hands at comedy, were much funnier than the “professional”. This doesn’t surprise me at all and I’m glad he ignored her. She’s a waste of oxygen.

Actually, they are right. You can always tell by finishing the sentence:

"He's a better man than you or I are."

not:

"He's a better man than you or me are."

So there you go.

Yup, or wish her a very long life. Alone, forgotten, and long.

I’ve always been frustrated by the fact that a putz like Carter goes around criticizing every Republican administration and hob-nobbing with dictators, while the Republicans take the high road and decline to criticize their Democrat counterparts. Bill Clinton actually behaved himself better than Carter did (low bar, I understand...).

Although I philosophically wish that Cheney could maintain the tradition, I’m glad he’s speaking out. Zero and Joe are so over-the-top in their criticisms of the Bush administration that it requires extreme measures in response. I guess the petulant children are in charge again for at least another 4 years.

When this current administration is leaking noises about prosecuting the former POTUS and the VP, then Cheney has every right to speak out.

Obambi will turn this country into a banana republic if his plans go through.

Obambi and his goons have personally attacked Cheney and they deserve to be called on it. God Bless Dick Cheney.

"This doesn’t surprise me at all and I’m glad he ignored her."

I remember Rush saying a few years ago, "When your in a fight gain the high ground and look down on your enemy".

Rush does it so often. Oberbite is another one he ignores.

Advertising revenue was good the whole 3 hours. Everyone wanted to hear Rush fire off one on Sykes and what did he do???

He was able to talk from the heart what this “fight” is about. He probably won some converts today.

How I wish he would run for President in 2012 and send the Muslim Marxist back to Chicago!

We can hope and we can call on Cheney in our time of need. There is today no greater patriotic statesman, so remindful of our Founding Fathers, who as well did not relish political office, but who did so out of love for America. It is very refreshing to hear him speaking out when all others are running for cover.

Wishing I had some way to get my message to Dick Cheney. CHENEY-PALIN 2012.
