There might be local concentrations where homosexuals have been put in positions of administrative power.
Most of those are being rooted out, since that nonsense goes along with all the other nonsense (heterodoxy, new age practices, women 'parish administrators', etc.) that weakens the church locally. That's why BXVI has done seminary visitations. Now he's started on the goofy female religious orders.
Since my mom's a professional dancer, I can spot 'em, and I haven't encountered very many in our diocese. There was a major and severe housecleaning about 10-15 years ago after a non-diocesan priest was caught molesting altar boys (and put in prison). A few are still around but they are (1) laying low out of fear of our last two Vicar Generals, who were Irish and scary, and (2) very old and nearing retirement. They will not be missed.
Exceptions seem to be mostly in politics and religion, though.

As far as we know, perhaps. There are some that seem to be in denial as well.
We have a couple of those aggressive women in our parish. Boy, are they obnoxious. Fortunately the rector is tough as nails and doesn't take much guff off anybody. The parish isn't run as efficiently as it could be, but so what? At least the women aren't in charge. Bad money drives out good, and the Monstrous Regiment of Women drives out good men.
A little off topic but you rarely hear the term “near occasion of sin” anymore. I’m glad it was drilled into my head as a young man because I know it saved me from getting me into some bad situations. Not all mind you but I know it helped.
See post #60.

Great post, netmilsmom.
The protestant version might go more like “Avoid bad companions and notorious haunts of sin.” But it’s good advice however you phrase it. It’s kept me out of (some) trouble, too.

That’s the parish I left!
The ladies in the Education office ran the entire parish (into the ground I might add). Yet, while bleeding parishioners, they have no clue why.
When I suggested asking the people in the parish I’m in now, I was told, “There’s something in the water over there.”
I kid you not.
Thanks Lady!!!
:)
You are right. However, a priest who carries on a secret affair with a woman is a far cry from one who molests a 13-year old parochial school student or choirboy. The cases of priests raping or molesting females are far fewer in number than the epidemic of homo priests taking advantage of post-pubescent boys in their perverse desire to have sex with males. I don't see any comparison at all.
LOL!!!! You have certainly dissproved that the soul of wit is brevity.
Fantastic!!!! They’re doing something right!
And you have proved yourself to be a hate-filled anti-Catholic bigot, who lies about Christ's Church without even attempting to source your lies.
Father Donald Cozzens, an author “The Changing Face of the Priesthood”, psychologist, and Catholic seminary president says that there is such a high percentage of gay priests in the church that he is concerned that the priesthood is or is becoming a gay profession.
Rev. Thomas Crangle survey of priests. Read those results.
There are loose statistics out there because many priests do not want to reveal their sexual orientation. Some have talked, but remain in the closet.
Some surveys were attempted with the majority of priests not filling them out.
Look there is a problem and the fact is seminaries are allowing gay men to pass into the priesthood. You need to ask them why.
As someone said up thread, it starts with the bishop.
Recently I read an article talking to young men, some of them VERY young (18 years old), about their decisions to enter into the seminary, both minor and major.
According to these young men, the biggest obstacle they faced regarding their decision was not priestly celibacy, not not being able to have a wife and kids, and not the difficult and prolonged educational process.
It was family pressure against the decision. That’s right, these young men are being discouraged by their parents, their siblings, cousins and friends NOT to go into the priesthood.
That said, I wholeheartedly agree with those posters who mention that the more orthodox the diocese, the more likely you are to have seminaries full of eager young men, whereas the more heterodox the diocese, the opposite is true. “Orthodoxy” includes ridding the seminaries of men with homosexual tendencies.
I’m just sad that so many Catholic parents actively discourage vocations among their children. As a mother, I would want to make sure my son knew what he was getting into, but other than that...how could I object?
Regards,
PS: I am acquainted with a young man currently in minor seminary. His name is Michael. Please pray for him.
Did you happen to see where Pope Benedict’s first few years was spent closing down rogue seminaries?
2002 is a LONG time ago.
