EDITORIAL: Obama's 'Laugh In' Partisan tone hurts the president and the press
The Washington Times ^ | May 12, 2009 | Editorial

It was President Obama's idea to give Queen Elizabeth II an iPod last month at Buckingham Palace.

During the gala's keynote address, comedian Wanda Sykes asked: "And whose idea was it to give the queen an iPod?" Clearly not wanting to be blamed for the blooper, first lady Michelle Obama responded by shaking her head and pointing an insistent finger at her husband. The president siled in acknowledgment.

This gift selection was criticized widely on both sides of the pond because it lacked the usual dignity of a presidential gift. It also suggested a pattern of superficial gestures toward our closest ally. The president bestowed a pile of DVDs on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown during his visit to Washington in March.

The bigger story is how Mr. Obama abandoned traditional presidential etiquette to take pot shots at his predecessor. He quipped that the obligation to attend the press gala was "just one more problem that I've inherited from George W. Bush."

We can't criticize Michelle. Didn't you know she is one of the world's most beautiful people?

As for the narcissistic Kenyan, he is in big, big trouble - with the Lord.

Why?

For this: "During the second 100 days, we will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first 100 days. My next 100 days will be so successful, I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest."

He has blatantly attacked and mocked God Himself.

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption..."

Galatians 6

God will repay Barack Hussein Obama.

God is wise and just. He will punish Barack Obama at a date, time, and place of His own choosing.

Yeah, it's not like Obama was, you know, a senator who voted for any of these policies, like the bank bailout...

I think I'm about ready for a t-shirt that says "So when is any of this YOUR responsibility, Barry?"

An honest question here. Since all the pressers have been so controlled (knowing who would be called on, what they would ask, etc) does anyone think that the WH knew in advance what would be said at the dinner? If so, who in the WH thought it ok ?

There are no words on this planet for me to tell you how sick I am of this White House. Well, maybe there are...I’d almost rather have Bill Clinton. And THAT’S really saying something (considering what I thought of HIM).

meh

..most of this type of event is usually directed at the President himself....Bush got it good,Reagan got his, missing in this case, was the "guest" speakers humor directed at Bambi, they figured he could make fun of himself. The chucklehead hit a few points...but it was up to him. Sykes racial comments were OK, since she's black, (something everyone wants to avoid), if a white comedian said anything remotely close to race....it would have been an issue. I think most of the comedians who speak are free wheeling it..no censor, in Obama's case, there is no need to censor.

Again we have children back in the White House who don't know how to act presidential if it bit them in the arse.

Although I had disagreements with W, he always showed class and brought dignity back to the White House.

I hope these idiots who voted for him are getting their money's worth. The country certainly isn't.

"Most of you covered me, all of you voted for me," Mr. Obama joked to roars of laughter and smiling nods. The truth behind the joke is that the press corps' adulation of the president compromises its mission to seek the truth without fear or favor. And that's not funny.
And not one of them, not a single solitary one of them, is professional enough to realize it.

It’s depressing. President Reagan is rolling around in his grave, I’m afraid.

On a happier note, I’m delighted to report that my 23 year old son called today to announce he bought a copy of “Liberty and Tyranny.” I was tickled. He knows quite well that it is HIS generation (who gave the big Zero what, 66% of the vote?) that is going to turn back the marxist hoards. Although I wish he hadn’t been in such a hurry; I was planning to surprise him with the book!

I think it’s important for all of us parents (whose kids have been indoctrinated in college) need to UNRAVEL the crap that has been shoveled into them. That’s what I did.

Constantly, I remind my son that while his contemporaries were swept away with Zero’s “sexiness” (Kinda like David Cassidy or Bobby Sherman when I was young....yeah I’m dating myself. LOL) that his ultimate plans for him are NOT in his best interests. The twenty somethings of now are facing tax rates of 75% on their earnings. We need their help!

They need to know that some of us are violently opposed to this!

I know if someone had asked me in 1995 if I’d rather have Clinton than some future unknown leader, I’d have said:

“I’ll take my chances.”

Clinton was a lot of things, most of them bad. But he didn’t hate America. This current occupant does.

I’ll go ya one better CalvaryJohn.....even Hillary would be better!

Yikes....

Sadly our 23 yr old neighbor thought the fly by over WTC was just fine and he thinks O is just fine too.

Nice to know your son has been taught some critical thinking rather than going with ‘feeeelliiingggsss’.
