More typical kneejerk reactionism. Not thoughtful or helpful.

“Infallibility” pertains only to matters of Catholic faith

Are you saying that the Catholic faith is separate from The Bible?

Yes, I know, and most of them are in areas where Muslims and Catholics live in close quarters, and any inflammatory remarks by the Pope could result in the actual deaths of actual Catholics.

Which of course stands in stark opposition to your meaningless bleatings.

maybe someday you'll know what responsibility is like.

“Israel is only relevant because of its religious significance. It is for that reason that the head of the largest Christian organization has a right to offer an opinion that is at least as valid as the collection of rabbi’s.”

Israel’s relevance is more than religious. It is the most important democratic state to stand between Western Civilization and the Islamists’ desire to expand the caliphate.

Other than that, the Pope not only has a right to speak, he is expected to speak. Pope Benedict is a scholar. He and his staff know more about Islam than everyone here put together, and believe me, he is no fan. As I said on an earlier thread, he is following the same path that the Bush Administration followed. It took me a long time to understand why the two-state solution is maintained. It seemed in opposition to all we stand for and I ranted & raved against it for a long time. But what it does is allow us to keep the moral high ground while championing & supporting Israel against the islamists (who completely surround it). Pope Benedict has a bit of a trickier path as his words must protect Palestinian Christians. Notice he stressed that any solution will depend on the behavior of Palestinian youth.

Well, you go carry on a dialogue with Muslims...let inform you Jesus Christ was a Muslim, let them tell you he wasn't crucified, that he wasn't divine, and that he will return on Judegment Day to, in their view, break down the Cross and wage a war on all other religions and kill Jews and Christians. The theological difference between Christianity and Islam are striking and you cannot reconcile the two or find a middle road...while you wait for them to seek mercy...many of them will glorify themselves through jihad.

If you are unable to confront the evil of the jihadists...preferring a secular, politically correct approach while hiding behind abstract claims of mercy (for blashphemy absent any sign of repentance)...and a refusal to use scripture as Paul suggested for correction, reproof, and instruction in righteousness...then do you think the Pope ought to attend Zero's speech at Notre Dame?

Yes, he can!

Right, we’re going to avail ourselves of the right to speak or point out the truth on the basis that Muslims will resort to violence when in fact, Muslims often resort to violence anyway...does this make sense? Remember, the disciples were crucified for preaching the Gospel...perhaps they too should have been silent?

The Pope knows what he is doing. I am not in favor of interfaith efforts in the U.S. because Christians do not know enough about Islam. Muslims who take part in interfaith efforts are, by and large, activists, and they do not go into such efforts with the same spirit of purpose. One of the reasons Christians have a limited knowledge of Islam is because the Bible mentions nothing of it, whereas the Qur’an specifically teaches against Jews & Christians. So Muslim activists come armed & loaded with propaganda and lies.

Again, it's easy to be hardline when no one really cares what you say.

The Pope doesn't have that luxury.

The Pope could call Obama the Devil, but what do you really think that would accomplish.

And again, I say, if you are so convinced of the evil of each and every Muslim, man up and start the killing yourself.

No, but they didn't demand anyone to speak for them.

There should be no interfaith efforts...Christianity is completely at odds Islam. The truth is that you have to choose sides...there is no middle ground when it comes to theology (unless you strip or otherwise ignore scripture)...of course there are secular notions like pluralism or multiculturalism and so on.

Don’t forget that the Pope is also a head of state. He is not just a religious leader.

Are you telling me that a SPIRITUAL LEADER that claims his authority as that of Peter...doesn’t have the luxury of speaking scripture...because an already violent false religion will commit violence in the name of a false prophet...mind you that Peter took no luxury in being crucified by Nero. Don’t present me with a this straw man about “calling Obama the devil,” for when you set up such a ridiculous argument, it is easy for you to knock down your weak claim. The Pope, perhaps again out of secular concern, will not address the fact that a Catholic University is inviting a rabidly pro-abortion President to speak and receive an honorary degree...this is just corruption and doesn’t merit excuses. I implore you to adhere to faith....to be guided by principle...and quit combating me and badgering me with rhetorical goofs. We were talking about speech...now you are presenting this false notion of killing because you are apparently grasping in desperation.

The disciples preached the Gospel....even though it led to their being crucified and you are trying to tell me a Pope...who claims Peter’s authority...can’t preach the truth because Muslims will commit violence...even though he is probably better protected personally than almost any other leader in the world and those who you fear...have already threatened the Pope...have already committed violence against Christians...and will continue violence into the future.

I’m not anti-Catholic...I have a lot of respect for such a longstanding institution, but I cannot and will not abide by secular concerns on matters of theology. There is a war, spiritual, and a conflict of arms. I implore you to give what I said consideration...don’t view me as your enemy, but as someone who only wishes that you stand with me in a world where that ridicules and is steadfastly hostile to the Christian faith. Don’t ignore the reailty of what is going on in the world today....don’t be complacent...be vilgilant.

Rom 11:25
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.
Rom 11:26
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Rom 11:27
For this [is] my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Rom 11:28
As concerning the gospel, [they are] enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, [they are] beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
Rom 11:29
For the gifts and calling of God [are] without repentance.

Ummm, he could have responded that they already have. Vatican City (an independent country) is situated in the city of Rome.

What about the "right of return" of Italian citizens to the Vatican? What about unlimited immigration of Italians to the Vatican? What about the "apartheid walls" surrounding the Vatican?

Would the pope consider ceding half of the grounds of the Vatican to Rome for the empty promise of peace with vandals and killers?

So why should Israel?
