“It may be too much to hope, but Bishop Darcy needs to let this university go and force it to stop calling itself “Catholic”.”

It should be closed immediately, and who ever at the University allowed these arrests to happen should be fired and excommunicated.

I think we need something like tea parties in front of the Cathedrals in the cities of this country, and in front of the Catholic churches in the smaller communities in this country.

The “seperate order of priests” is Catholic. Notre Dame was willed to their order by the founder of Notre Dame.

Yes, but that is not an order of what’s known as a “diocesan priests” under the direct control of the local Bishop. They have their own internal hierarchy which ultimately answers to the Vatican, but are not under the local Bishop. Among Jesuits, they have what I think are called “Provincials” but I don’t know the structure of the other orders of non-diocesan priests.
