next they will give him the pope’s hat.
Thing is, for people of some mindsets there is far less critical difference between the opposing philosophies. Even some "conservatives" in some areas have a much different view of society and freedom than others do.
We keep coming back to the urban vs rural divide, there are two different realities in action. Big liberal government doesn't allow for this, and urban "conservatives", having given up much of their personal autonomy already, just to cope with the urban environment, are not as repelled by government intrusions.
We've seen this in action, on this forum, with those of us still standing our ground accused of being too dogmatic and inflexible. I don't know how many people have left Free Republic, but most of them left because they couldn't move the conservative core.
Maybe we could have won the election, but at what price? If you let your convictions slide just a bit at a time, before long you'll forget you ever had any.
Explain to me please WHY SCOTT PETERSON IS SERVING TWO LIFE TERMS FOR MURDERING HIS WIFE! AND MURDERING HIS UNBORN SON!
But a Woman can have TILLER THE BABY KILLER MURDER HER UNBORN CHILD AS IT IS BEING BORN! They are Both “MURDER!”
Change the name to Judas Dame.
Pray for America and Women Damaged by Abortion
Did anyone hear a baby cry when “O” spoke of abortion? I walked away from t.v. in disgust and as I did I thought I heard a baby cry.
This day was about the graduates, sir - not to be used as a media opportunity by you. You should have stayed completely clear of the whole controversy and focused on the graduates and their accomplishments. THAT would have been statesmanlike.
Unbelievable. I call for no more politicians to ever be seen at a commencement exercise, be they of any persuasion.
***Common ground? Dead is dead, there isnt any halfway point!***
Absolutely true! I wonder if the big 0 knows there’s still a law against murder.
Very good point.
I heard that too...thought I imagined it. I was so disgusted I walked away and thought I heard a baby cry....hello I am here. My mom and dad did not kill me. I’m real flesh and bones....wow....
This is the trouble with going to "alternate sites" for protests -- you can and will be ignored by the mainstream media. You've got to go to the main site. The protesting students should have gone to the graduation and at the very least turned their backs on Obama when he started speaking.
If Obama would have stayed clear of the controversy I would have let the matter go, but since he didn’t I think the administration at ND needs to go. ND deserves to lose a lot more than $14 million after today’s speech. And on a Sunday, no less.
That was horribly disrespectful to the graduates - it was THEIR day, not Obama’s.
You should write me, and just for the record, note here either his reply (unlikely) or his non-response (more likely).
These people are hypocrites of the worst order. BSers and hatemongers.
God and the Holy Spirit showed up to get that baby crying right as Obama tried to spin on abortion and moral relativism. Like the lightning strike in Giuliani’s debate.
He never said that about Miss California.
Pray for America
The problem for the pro-death crowd is that they demonize themselves through demonic behavior. Pro-lifers are roundly criticized for simply telling the truth.
How was this a graduation speech?
That is quite true. But the minds of our intellectual class are closed and they are looking for validation in the form of like-minded tyrants, who as they do, pretend to be seekers of truth, when what they are after is power. The answer is for free people to oppose them without fear. Let's start saying it: "Progressives" hate freedom. They lie about their intentions by changing the meaning of words. What they call "freedom" is most often theft or self-destructive behavior. True liberty is abhorrent to them, as it depends upon individual rights and responsibility, and a faith in something beyond their immediate needs for gratification. Our children deserve far better than to be offered dependency as a birthright.
What is the “common ground” between pro-death and pro-life? I don’t see it!
>> I am not catholic & today, I am happy that I’m not being represented by the likes ...
That’s ‘Catholic’ if you don’t mind.
